Seriously, I had no time to write. Mom wanted me to help her put up her Christmas village. Between than and doing laundry that took all morning.

After lunch we went to see my Aunt S1. She looks...beyond horrible. I can't described this to you and make anyone really understand. Just a few months ago she was fine. She doesn't even look human any more. Her entire face looks black and blue. It's swollen as if someone has beaten her. Sores on her scalp ooze constantly into the gauze mummifying her head. Her hands are skeletal and she now has bed sores. It would almost have been better if the doctors were right and she wasn't going to survive the week. it was a strange and uncomfortable visit and I'm sure the next one will be too if she is still surviving in a few weeks. It's difficult to talk to the terminally ill sometimes. You talk around it but it's an olliphant in the room.

Then after dinner, mom, my brother and my SiL went to the casino. It was fun but it was a losing night, oh yes it was. I did well for the first hour and half then boom. Bye bye cash. I played the Monkees slot machine for [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog

Snippet of the day - Sverre looked back at the bar. "I know it's selfish, but I'm glad your fire didn't reach my face. People won't look at me as it is."

"His fire?" Butcher twisted on the seat to stare at Sverre.

"You don't know?"

"Neifion is probably only six months older than you two. He was a kid during the war. He's never seen me in combat until the temple burned down and that was entirely different from me creating the fire."

"We didn't even know you could put fire out," Eetu said.

"I have complete mastery over fire, such as it is. Fire is a sneaky thing." Ethon said

Keeping this short (and without yearly word count) to save time before my drive back to OH. I'm mostly only doing it because I had a thought I wanted to get out of my head before I forget it like I did last night (I was exhausted, turned off the computer unable to write, lie down and Sverre gives me a perfect scene ender and naturally I didn't remember come morning)

Sometimes description depends on the character, especially when you're doing multiple third person povs. I was in the wrong character's head for the one scene I know needed description but didn't have it. Sverre is the describer as it turns out but I had to be in Archana's pov. However, she's lived in the temple system her whole life. She would not be in awe or feel compelled to tell the reader what things looked like since it's old ground. The best I can do is compare one temple to the other with her. Sverre or even Ethon would have been a better pov for description in that scene. Sigh.

So pov is linked to descriptive ability in many ways. You're even more limited in some ways if you're doing first person pov or strictly ONE third person pov. If there is no reason they would observe something you're hosed.

However, this is no excuse for my inability to weave description into their movements and that sort of thing. It'll take me a month to go back thru and remove the s/he glanced, shrugged, smirked and turned and put in something more descriptive, original and compelling.

Back to the typing. I know what I have to do in order to make word count. put place holders in for the next three scenes and skip to the stuff that's been in my head for years. I know it. That will flow and the place holder stuff isn't formed. It'll take to long.

It rained all the way home. Nothing like a 200+ mile drive in the rain. That means of course I can't use my cruise control and I've broken both ankles. After a while actually driving becomes terribly painful. WHines.

At least I made it home safe. I do need to get back to typing because I realized i'll be missing most of monday to build a lab test but i'll have 4 hours in the lab test to work.

I did have another fun conversation with the parents the other day. We were watching a BBT rerun I hadn't seen. It pans up from a table with a boggle game and a Klingon to English dictionary to the boys.

Me - Hey, I have that Klingon to English dictionary

Dad - no you don't

Mom -Yes she does it's upstairs at mom's

Me - in a box. Are they playing Klingon Boggle?

Dad- how did you know that

Me - what else would they be doing with that dictionary.

Dad- ....

Mom - ....

Me - Man, I want my dictionary back

Dad - get off my couch.

Snippet of the day - Eetu pushed Sverre back on the bed and he cried out as pain shot up his leg. “You can be such a mean ass, you know that right?”

Sverre pulled the stump of his arm close to his chest, squeezing the tip willing the pain out of it. “Sorry. I just...” he paused. “We've been friends forever, you know how I can get. I'm hurting too much to be nice.”

“Friends? I've stuck around because I felt sorry you drove everyone else off,” Eetu snarled. “I've got to go.”

Sverre couldn't breathe. Eetu's words hit like bullets. “Tell her I'm sorry. I don't feel well enough to eat.”

“Whatever.” Eetu flipped a hand at him, disappearing out the door.

Sverre sank down into the feather tic mattress that had felt so comforting the night before. His only friend was living a lie. Eetu didn't even like him. How could he be so easily fooled? What was so wrong with him? It couldn't be true but he had seen the look on his friend...his not friend's face.

Sealing his hand over his mouth, Sverre moaned, tears flooding down his face. He couldn't stop sobbing even after it aggravated his tortured muscles. Gulping down air, Sverre stifled the noise in a pillow.
