I've mentioned this many times before. I drove all the way to Columbus after working all morning. For 100 miles it rained. Not ONCE did the radio hint something seriously amiss was happening. I get to the doctor's and the receptionist stares at me, 'I can't believe you came!'

What? She points outside and says look. The sky had begun to go green in the time it took me to get from the parking lot to the third floor of the clinic. For those who don't live in tornado alleys, green is bad. She then points to CNN and I see the killer tornado that ripped through southern Indiana (no idea if my family is okay there but [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog is, Kentucky and Ohio. I said if it's this bad I'll get a hotel and stay.

I see the surgeon and was told exactly what I figured. I've torn the biceps off the bone.(the one thing I'm good at is diagnostics). I feared that when he told me that instead of putting in a bone screw that he stitched the moved tendon under the periosteum of the humerus. told my brother that tonight and he about freaked. 'that is SO risky' And it is. I know why he did it, shorter recovery time, higher risk. But it could still scar down like it's supposed to.

I have full function of the muscle and almost full range of motion of my shoulder which is very good. We put in two kinds of steriod and two anesthetics in a 360 right into the muscle and down to bone and up into the arm pit. He kept asking 'are you okay?' dude, I'm fine. Afterwards he sits me up, are you dizzy? are you nauseated? Really? What kind of wuss asses are you injecting? I'm fine. Hell I've done more painful things to myself for fun.

I leave and it's raining hard. I hear on the radio that right then the storms were at the worst and should pass by 8 pm so I figure if I hit the stores and dinner it will be 8. I go to whole food, trader joes where I get three cheeses, their feb. spotlight chocolate cheddar (the chocolate is a rich under note to the salty cheddar) St Auger's blue (a french blue that is tangy without being overly sharp) and my usual St Albin's triple cream brie (very buttery)

I tried a new restaurant, a little north of my usual (chain ridden) haunts, Amul India, excellent food, a tad pricey. For a while I was the only non-Asian there. OMG if NW Columbus had been like this in the 90's I would never have given up my practice there, hot Chinese young man at Whole Foods, hotter Hindu waiting on me at the restaurant. I had a more traditional Lassi with salt and crushed cumin, kadahi ginger paneer and I can't resist gulan jamun. I would go back in a heart beat. I only got regular heat and he's like are you sure? Yes yes I know I'm Whiter than sour cream, but I can handle my spice. Regular was barely hot.

Barnes and Nobles I was all set to buy you freaking card (because Amazon is beginning to disgust me) but you have gutted the manga selection even more. It's pretty much nothing but Fairy Tail, Bleach, Deathnote and FMA. and a few others here and there. Pathetic. Also the new featured salted caramel mocha tasted like burnt caramel. gross.

No rain at all on the way home. My radio station DID get hit because it didn't come online til I was nearly home. My power when out. I did find out there were deaths not far from here but my place and myself are fine.

sekrit message for ELD - Shifty's has been torn down entirely and is now a Tim Horton's ;_;
