i hate cleaning
May. 23rd, 2012 11:48 pmI'm not just allergic to dust and mold but to cleaning solutions as well. Even with the organic wimpy shit I use (at least it doesn't give me asthma attacks like 409 and fantastik) my skin looks like an alligator. I got the tub scrubbed. I got my hand washables scrubbed. Found out why my stove top was so fucked up. The burner pan rusted out and sank every time I put a pot on it. Gah. Got to go buy one.
I made an appt with a realtor on friday. Mom is coming next week to go with me to see homes. Frankly I'm shocked the whole family isn't coming. Dad wants to check 'man stuff' like septics, electricity and foundations. Mom wants to decorate the whole place. My aunt wants to landscape it. I could sit back and do nothing really. I have informed her, that so far I don't really like anything I've seen and if I don't like the place i might as well rent.
I sent Bean Ed off to be fixed, poor little netbook.
Okay can I bounce some ideas off you all? I know I shouldn't even think about it. I'm considering two open calls with different publishers (always good not to have all your eggs in one basket). One I have some time to write, for Storm Moon Press's 'sacrifice' open called, fantasy anthology, lesbian. Could be interesting. I've not really written lesbian fiction before so it could be a challenge provided I can stay interested in it.
The other came across my author's list today, an anthology about the olympics (with contemporary and paranormal possibilities) But the annoying thing (and the reason I'm not posting this on my other journal, as she's a friend there) is that it's got a one month deadline (another publishing house does that too). I would love to write something for it but the word count is 5-10K with a preference going to the longer counts. Hmm.
I DID write a story just like this once before. I think it was published in an APA but i can't find the story and I think it's so old I wrote it on a word processor. The character was in the Pankration. I was thinking of doing the same thing here.
Or pick another game maybe like the penthalon or a horse related one.
I wanted the lover to be a god, not Zeus (I think he's the patron of the villian of the piece), maybe Hades (or Posiedon if I go with the horses) or maybe some minor god like one of the Oneiroi, like Morpheus. Thoughts? I'd love opinions.
Speaking of writing, one of my characters is sending me spam. I.e. they must monitor this journal which is the only place that very unusual name has ever been.
