137 years of graduating students
May. 11th, 2013 10:38 pmIf you knew where this University was that number would amaze you even more. It's in the middle of bumblefuck nowhere NOW. Can't imagine what it was like 137 years ago.
I had brunch with the president. As expected, the honored faculty (just a half dozen of us so it's kind of a big deal) were jammed in the back and the rest of it was mostly honoring our two speakers for graduation. But I went, I go sucked into being secretary for the new faculty assembly (kill me, the word is NO, Dana. Repeat after me...) Truth is, it's always the same half dozen people who do everything.
Also a migraine started at brunch so that made graduation fun. At least it didn't storm but it looked like it at any second. Representative Ryan Smith did the graduation speech which was mercifully short. And it was cool out. I got to actually see and talk to my students some this year. That doesn't always happen.
We did go to a friend's house at 3 for appetizers and booze. I never did eat dinner (pigged out on appetizers so...) and I'm still drinking about seven hours later so go me.
I did write a lot during graduation. I always get name ideas. Favorite surname - Pinkstock. Favorite first name - Tameron.
I'm going to eat my pinwheels I kinda invented. I was thinking of antipasto or tapas so I got a soft green onion cheese and spinach artichoke cheese, mixed them, added garlic, roasted red peppers and chopped olives and spread it on tortillas to roll it all up.
I wasn't home to declutter. My head hurts. I'm tired and I'm currently writing the never ending chapter but it's sort of pivotal so I better get my drunk butt back to it. Long live Guinness. Oh speaking of which, my chair decided our last school meeting is at the bar over beer and pizza on Tuesday then later i'm going to the winery's craft beer fest. Another day of drinking. Yay.
Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY to
