cornerofmadness: (Kagari and gun)
To say I've been remiss in putting up my fanfic is a massive understatement seeing as I pretty much stopped this time last year.

Title -- Puppy Eyes
Author-- [livejournal.com profile] cornerofmadness
Disclaimer -- Arakawa owns all
Rating -- teen
Characters/Pairing -- Roy, Hayate, Riza, Royai
Word Count --426
Warning -- none
Summary -- Someone is working the puppy eyes.
Author’s Note -- I have so many other things to do, like promoting my novel that came out this week (ask if you’re interested) but Roy just had to talk. Roy always has to talk (except for the story where I need him to talk). This was written for [livejournal.com profile] fma_fic_contest and tied for first. [livejournal.com profile] m14mouse made the pretty banner. photo cornerofmadness256_zpsed66a40cbym14mouse_zpsa23d3d35.jpg

The moment I saw the salt truck had spun out of control and was over the hill O_o Once again (third week in a row) I've missed my morning nursing lab because of a 2 hour delay. This was stupid. They should have canceled. Yes, the school's county was only getting rains BUT Vinton, Athens, Meigs and Jackson counties where most of the staff, faculty and students live were under level 2 snow emergencies (and I would have known this if I hadn't been watching BBC America). But I did make it there and back. Another sign that no one would have been out? The 18 wheelers didn't try to push me into going faster. So I went outside my apt and had about three inches of water on top 4-6 inches of snow and then ice on top of that. Fun times. I don't mind snow but ice can go fuck itself.

Last night I mentioned one nasty sentence can send you into a tail spin. On the other hand sometimes a kind word goes a long way. Today a student told me she wished I taught all of her classes because I make things fun and understandable. It really made me smile.

well that was creepy. A friend was asking me about my apartment in Fishkill NY back in the 90s and I wanted to Google Earth it to see what she's talking about. I couldn't remember my address there so I thought 'hmmm wonder if it was online.' I wish I hadn't done that. because I found 'advanced background checks' that had all my addresses starting with NY (and some that weren't mine) my age, my current abode, my parents names and aliases (I have aliases??) Now I'm really creeped out. If I had been a stalker I'd have everything I need to come and kill me. As far as I'm concerned none of this should be out there for free. I had to pay to get criminal activity etc but I am NOT cool with this level of info out there.

That Reading Wednesday Meme:

What I Just Finished Reading - Rise of Renegade X by Chelsea M. Campbell. You can read my full review here . This self-pubbed book is better than a lot I've gotten from big publishing houses lately. It's snarky teenaged fun that plays with the Superhero genre. Imagine if Edward Elric had been raised by Father and you'd have Damien, snarky son of a super villainess given to moralist Superman to live for 6 weeks and you'll have this. I enjoyed it.

What I'm reading now: Runby Ann Patchett. I got it from the library as part of their 'blind date' Valentine's promotion. It was wrapped up and it could stay that way so far. It's contemporary literature. Sigh. About the four things I loathe talking about the most, religion, race, politics and money.

What I'm reading next: Cracker: the best dog in Viet Nam by Cynthia Kadohata, which is the second blind date book I've gotten...and it's half in the dog's thoughts, another not so favorite trope for me and The Killer of Little Shepherds: A True Crime Story and the Birth of Forensic Science by Douglas Starr because I should read a little non-fiction every so often.

Declutter day 200 items tossed -Cranberry tablets why kept-Better for a UTI than drinking the juice why tossed -So old they had gone grey
