Writerly Ways
Jul. 13th, 2014 09:39 pmSometimes I'm not the most efficent of writers. I start with ideas and they don't always have a coherent plot. I'm not an outliner. Every story I've ever outlined has remianed unfinished. Most of the time, the plot will reveal itself as I go.
Of course that leaves me having to go back and pepper things in to make the beginning meet the end. For instance, the contemporary holiday story I mentioned last time, I had no conflict. Now I've decided that it works better if the men were having some trouble finding time for each other and they mend that over the story. There we go, some conflict.
In Splinters of Silver and Cold Iron, I realized the end would work better if I peppered in Killian's guardian being sick.
Granted it is a lot of work to go back and weave it all in but that's what draft #2 is for.
Does this happen to you?
Today was very very rainy but I did use it to finish writing that holiday story. yay. and watching Potterfest. I'm being SO lazy.
