Today sucked. At least the new provost was honest when he said all the new things that will no longer count toward NI load weren't in the spirit of the agreement but is being done so that they can make us teach for free if we don't have enough non-instructional hours. Someone at work blamed me for something I didn't do. HATE that.
And then I was asked to advise a student. I was done at noon and had to wait til FOUR for this student and it turned out it wasn't a new advisee. It was just a prospective student who wanted to learn more. Now I'm GLAD to sway a student to the biology cause but dammit, why the hell don't they send them to staff earlier in the tour? That's just a huge lack of respect for my time.
BUT on the way out of work I stopped at the recycler and heard someone says 'THANK YOU for all you do!' It was one of the librarians. That made my shitty day better.
Words matter. I always try to remember that but failed when I got home. Sorry I'm SO SICK of people posting about science who don't got the first fucking clue. Usually I write a response then erase but today I was in just the right mood to unload. Both barrels. I barely regret it and then after that I see my cousin's born again nuclear engineer husband posting an article (I refused to read it) about autism being linked to vaccines (false!) made from aborted fetuses (OMFG WTF?). I just let it pass because where do you even begin?
But I did want to say THANK YOU to everyone who tried to cheer me up last night. It's appreciated so much.
