The Priest wept
Jan. 24th, 2017 09:42 pmI mentioned the next door neighbor died back home after several months of suffering post-stroke. I've known him all my life. He was very active in St. Anne's choir. Father Bob only made it a little ways into the sermon before breaking down, Mom said., God speed,Jake.
In talking to my coworkers about these over qualified candidates and my feelings of inadequacy. I learned a) I'm not alone in those feelings b) they mostly agree with me. It's a sign of how absolutely SHITTY academia has become. So many schools have gone to adjunct only to get out of paying benefits (meanwhile you can not survive well on adjunct pay, especially out here where you can't divide your time up before multiple schools as you could say if you were in Pittsburgh or Columbus. I mean we're a rinky dink school of less than 2000 students and the biology position has over thirty applicants and the Math position has over fifty! Math and Science just a decade ago were the in-demand jobs. God help you if you're an English prof I guess.
But another thought occurs is I'm a teacher not a researcher and that's what little schools like mine want so maybe I would be a BETTER candidate than someone from Harvard who couldn't possibly continue their research here. That makes me feel a little better.
Palmer finally got an episode on NCIS that didn't make me wince.
And I forgot to mention in my request for help last night that Brendan is there to investigate a haunted abandoned hotel from the 1900's (it's not real unlike much of what will be in this story). So if that helps with the ghost story help plea... And I'm using Pintrest to storyboard this story so check it out These Haunted Hills. I live less than 40 miles from here.
And speaking of this Beta readers =fresh eyes.
And for those wanting to do good thing moonjoggers. You can walk/jog at your own pace a 5K (or more) and earn badges and the money for this new project goes to build schools. Though I wish this was one of their more geeky badge things. I don't really want a bunch of badges in the shape of countries but still, good cause.
Also that hernia is really hurting
