It's all over
Dec. 8th, 2017 08:40 pmWow, HOW can this semester be over? It feels like I just came back here a couple weeks ago but it's suddenly only a few days before winter, a supremely shitty semester is over and somehow I'm on the other side. My grades are in. My office is half cleaned. I've begun to gather the stuff for my promotion and now I'm facing the let's gift wrap/pack/get out of here scenario.
We spent three hours at the winery tonight and if they weren't closing I'd probably still be there.
Yesterday my friend Rain was here and we hit Tuscany for an early Christmas. She made me a cool pendant piece and gave me some fun true crime books and some black cat stuff and a little felt Star Trek badge. So cool. But then I swung past the park in Gallipolis and it was GORGEOUS. they did such a beautiful job on the lights. My cell phone takes shit pictures in the dark. In theory, I'm going to the Provost's party across from that park tomorrow if it doesn't snow (kinda hoping for snow because I'm not really in the mood for the party). I'll go back with my camera and see if I can get some video of it.
Had my doctor's appt yesterday, sort of the 50th birthday baseline, welcome to your declining years thing. I have to have a cardiac echo. Oh joy.
I'm not sure I'll have time to get my SF novella expanded in time (because I think it's like January. I need to double check) that makes me sad. I think it could be good but I couldn't write this week AT ALL. Usually I write while they take finals but I had SO MUCH grading to do, i was doing it there and until midnight every night. I haven't had time to even look at Blood Red.
My life is tiring right now but at least I have some time off. Woot!
ETA- I'm wrong. The Lost open call for NIne Star (who won a shit ton of awards yesterday) is in April, not January. Now I need to find someone who wants to read a SF thing.
