cornerofmadnessSo we were asked to do a school fair with very little instruction other than show up with props. THREE out of the four of us (self included) did NOT read the original email, just basically saying yes to what the biology coordinator asked. They didn't reiterate one key fact. This is more than an hour from school.
To be fair to us (self included) who the
hell would expect us to be asked to go in between classes an hour away and work this thing for A WEEK. A day maybe but for FOUR days?!? We all discovered this this morning and all hell broke loose in the stupidest way possible. I feel dumb for saying yes without reading the whole email (like none of us did) because now I can't do this tomorrow because there's no time for me to get back to work. I never could do this Wed and Thursday I now have a doctor's appt and I could only get out there for one hour and I'm like yeah, no.
We all thought it was on campus. We all feel dumb. We also all feel annoyed that this hour away nonsense wasn't in like big red letters or something.
I called for my hotel for the weekend. I don't even know what I'm paying (con rate or slightly higher) but I don't care. I was annoyed that I could ONLY do it via the web page if I took the entire weekend. I live like an hour and half away (if that) so I don't need to go Thursday because of that and it doesn't start til friday until 3pm anyhow.
Like I always do I started looking at food to eat near the hotel and...you can tell this is a capitol city. Did I really just see you asking 35$ for fried chicken?!? Nah, I'll go to KFC first. There is an award winning Italian in the area. I might aim for that because I can see me not needing DoorDash (unless I'm walked off my feet at Tsubasacon) I know Charleston a little so I feel like I can drive about.
I am going Friday for the first time ever mostly because it's only 20$ more and last time I stood TWO hours just to get in so I'm hoping Friday is less nuts and I'll get my weekend badge and then I can pick and choose and walk across the street to the hotel when I get tired. (because this is a small con there aren't that many interesting panels to me.)
And in weird news I was getting texts about paying bills from Go Kinetic. WTF is this? I look it up and it's my parents' telephone/internet carrier. I guess because I was texting at the house their system decided THIS was the phone to contact. Dudes, no. My parents are capable of paying their own bills, thank you very much.
It's music monday and it's spooky season. Share one of your favorite spooky soundtracks. One of the people involved with Nox Aracana is always at the Mothman Fest so as a result I have a ton of their stuff on cd. I can't even say it all sounds different but I really like it. Have a full album
