Writerly Ways
Dec. 17th, 2017 03:00 pmStill not much to say and not enough progress this past week to bother updating the word count. I DID however make it home last night with little vehicular drama. I do have a great picture of a resigned Kanda wedged upside down on the couch awaiting his doom (i.e. going in the travel box). I'll try to post that another day.
As for writerly ways, god I need someone to bounce ideas off of for my villain in that fantasy story I wanted to do for nano but didn't because of the villain issue.
Other than that, let me say as a new author something you should be aware of: it's a small world. I've seen several start throwing shade on others because of hurt feelings and seeking counsel. The latter is not a bad thing. We all need that but maybe it would be a good idea to get to know a few people, talk to them OFF social media. Oddly for someone who can't keep her mouth shut at work, I've known this about social media almost from the get go. It'll save hurt feelings and maybe a reputation or two.
And now for links and there are plenty today.
First from Betty:
beyond characters and plot
tips for sequels
Insufficient reasons to include bigotry Interesting this should come up. The zombie YA I got to listen to in the car so I wouldn't hear 4 hours of non-stop Christmas music, has very little zombies but has a huge amount of neo-nazism. There's a teenaged boy who doesn't want to be a racist but is being groomed by his abusive racist father and it's beginning to poison him. I'm not sure it was a good choice for this book but on the other hand it is rather believable in some way.
winning the anxiety war I need to meditate on this one.
