First day back

and I'm already so over it. I told the students to email if they needed the notes (as a lot of them just download it). I go in, no one emailed, no one had them. WHo needs it. 8 hands go up. I make the copies by the time I'm back 3 had downloaded it. There's 60 pages of paper wasted. sideeyes the lot of them.

Trying the wayback machine again but it's weird...One I'm not sure ALL my LJ posts made it to DW because I'm seeing different stuff. I learned that the geekgirlz stuff (my old website) was captured by wayback more often than not but so far NONE of what I put on Forever Fandom was captured. Ah well.

And I signed up for fandomtrumpshate. Check it out. I did this years ago back when LJ had charity fandom auctions but I haven't done it in years (most of what I've done in the last few years have been in original fiction anthologies for charity). I have Buffyverse, Angelverse and Fullmetal Alchemist on offer. (well you won't see that for a few weeks yet until after the sign ups close).

And my collected mail was delivered with a shipment of my books from two different publishers. I didn't realize I was getting some from Dreaming Robot because I didn't see it in the contract.





Day 7 - Stretch yourself a little and try something new. Go play in a new fandom or with a new pairing. Try working in a new medium. Or check out some fanworks that are new to you. I've been doing this a little lately. I wrote a contemporary fiction romance for the holidays after all and most of you know that is so not my genre.

I've been poking around su_herald and looking at stories I normally wouldn't. Okay there are still some pairings that don't interest me but I've been looking at crossovers like this Doctor Who/Buffy crossover

I'm counting fandomtrumpshate and the chocolate box as me stretching, okay stretching backwards to the days where I did tons of ficathons (and seriously looking at my 2004 journal, I did DOZENS of them and I think that was my way of staying sane. I was a wreck. I don't know how evil_little_dog put up with me but I'm grateful she did.

I'm stretching my reading slightly with Lady Molly of Scotland Yard by Baroness Orczy okay not a huge stretch but it's at least written ages ago and by the woman who gave us The Scarlet Pimpernel. Also it's free if you want want to check it out.

And I've tried a new band. Mongolian heavy metal (though thankfully not death metal which apparantly they have done). I can't get enough of this song or those instruments!

Trivia that wasn't

There was supposed to be a trivia night but when me and my friends got to the Colony Club it had been canceled. Ah well. We had dinner anyhow and I went to the library and committed the sin of getting out books (because dammit I NEED to whittle down my own TBR pile). Bad CoM, BAD!

If they dont' fix the heat in the damn science buildings there might be a revolt. It's STILL in the 90s in my lab and the class room isn't much better. I think this is how I'll die

I got my chocolate box assignment. NOT what I was expecting but it should be a lot of fun.

I also see fandom_stocking has the stockings in need up. Ugh I have three I want to finish and I'm not sure I can pick up anything on top of those three stories.

You would think this is easy but it really isn't.

Hyperion's Son BtVS/AtS You knew I'd pick this one now that it's finished. Yes it is a crossover fan novel, an alternative reality where much of season 5 of Angel didn't happen (especially Origins where in a leaking spell leaves Connor thinking he's insane and self medicating with heroin.

Fata Viam Invenient Another BtVS/AtS cross over that was written long before Origins. I do think it's amusing that I had put Connor with Gwen before the comic book did (this one is a bit kinkier)

Psychadelic Butterfly BtVS, set in Giles's misspent youth where Ripper unknowingly meets Spike/Dru and a backfiring spell causes a certain vampire to gender swap.

Some Like It Tied Up Fullmetal Alchemist, Roy/Riza, kinky a bit and somehow this is my story with the most hits according to statistic. Blinks

In Each Other Fullmetal Alchemist, Roy/Riza, Ed/Winry, my second most popular story according to AO3. It's a big bang based on just a gorgeous piece of fan art

Source of Sorrow Fullmetal Alchemist, Roy/Riza, Ed/Winry, the whole Sorrow series is probably my favorite for this fandom (and I HAVE to get one of them on AO3, it's missing)

Two Graves Saiyuki, sort of Hakkai/Gojyo, Goku/Sanzo and OMG I have almost none of my Saiyuki stuff on AO3. Guess I know what I'm doing once I move my Buffy stuff. THis one is about a serial killer

The Elagabalus’s Wine I wrote exactly two Vassalord stories but this story is #3 most popular I have on AO3 and I would have sworn it was #1

And lastly here are two original things I did for a holiday challenge, two new stories I'm noodling around with to write. Granted, the closest they've come to being betaed is me running spellcheck BUT if you want to peek at them and see what you think of the characters, that would be so cool.

New England urban fantasy I had more of this but it died with the flashdrive. I'm still holding out hope my friend can retrieve it.

Steampunk vampire hunter This came out of a conversation I had with myself (hush) when I said I'd like to cosplay a steampunk Van Helsing then decided, why cosplay when I could WRITE her.
