There is always a new level of down

So L contacts me last night with even more bad news at work. The other new hire (okay 2 years ago) who was also going to be out at the end of this semester has a new job so we now have like 8 classes between the two (who the morons in charge thought would stick around after being laid off to teach the last semester they were hired for), there's no way the remaining ones of us CAN teach those classes AND the head of the wild life program is also looking to leave.

Then the two boards who govern us are in a fight and the community college board gave the morons on the university board a deadline of this coming Friday (right before I leave) to get their shit together and lay out their plan for the university.

I'm betting closure. The ONLY thing working is the nursing program. Even the community college is down 15%. No kidding, how shittily they've handled this made the news. Who the fuck would come to this place now?

I'm not looking at this while I'm in the UK. I can't deal with this. It kept me up all night.

My brother has a patient who has an in at a WV uni so there's that possibility slim, so slim. I'll have to start back at the bottom, pay cut and move. I'm not able to find one. even for our adjunct position we have dozens of applicants (mostly from other countries)

Fireflies

There are a lot of things I love about my parents' property and it's the woods and the wildlife. There's a starfield of fireflies out there right now. Earlier a fat ground hog watched me going for pizza. Tonight the mother of one of the three fawns was out there eating while two rabbits melted into the grass as a crow harassed them to get at Japanese beetles (eat my black feathered friend, eat!)

Everyone was here today. Like seriously we had company from noon til six. Mom's best friend was here (they met in school, their mothers became friends, my brother and I became friends with her kids) and then Dad's cousin and her husband came.

I'm glad she's back. She had moved out with her son in Seattle for a couple years. I honestly have no idea how her husband is hanging in there. For well over a decade less than half his heart works. Out of ALL my cousins she is the most like me for all that she's my parents' age. Her son and I have more in common than me and my brother. We both have horrible health.

It was nice to see them but no writing got done and now the Christmas story is back for another edit. Yippee.
