Writerly Ways
Sep. 15th, 2019 09:37 pmI had something planned for today, ELD heard me talking about it but I'll be honest I worked until 930 but I still have 50 lab reports to grade. I'm tired mentally and physically. I slept so badly that I woke with nerve pain from clenching my job only to find I had been so restless not only had I kicked off all the sheets, I pulled off the fitted one too.
So I'll try to hold onto that and just say this, be kind. I'm so over authors ripping each other up and readers dog piling on (yes it has to do with my pro life. No one is bothering me I'm too penny ante but I can't log into my pen name's social media without hate being everywhere).
Something Leanne Renee Hieber said to me back in March at the steampunk symposium registered with me. She invited me, more or less a nobody in the publishing world to the table with her and the other Tor authors because authors need to help each other. I believe that. I truly do. Or at the very least if you can't be kind be quiet.
Now I'm not talking about big nasty things. I'm not saying support some homophobic, misogynistic, racist whatever author. I'm talking little things. Like if someone doesn't want to self publish then don't troll them for it and vice verse. So much anger right now about this stuff.
As for me, I want to support everyone I can. (I will say giving me ARCs might not be your best bet because I'm the world's slowest ereader but on the other hand if you ever want one of my ARCs I'd give it to you). I try to be kind. I may not always succeed but I try.
