Good call on my part
Oct. 11th, 2021 09:49 pmI was going to buy tickets to the Immersive Van Gogh thing but it was an on your phone ticket only and I'm like my phone is notorious for NOT hooking to wifi (random aside at one of Pittsburgh's huge ballfields this happened and people couldn't access their 400$ tickets and were turned away because there was no service there which is really inexcusable, also paper is sometimes still better.) so I decided okay I'll take my chances at the door.
I get to the vascular testing no issues. tried to sneak into the doctor's office early but he was backed up so I went to the hospital across the street, got my records and sat in the cafteria. It took me 2 hours to eat and edit that short story of mine for publication which was more readable than I thought it would be.
Unfortunately, the vascular testing was worrisome. There is increased velocity in my stent which means it's narrowing. Now it MIGHT be my leg brace (so I'm going to start wearing it less) but it could be it's clotting off. Also now that it was hot my varicose veins were SO much more noticeable so he whisks me BACK into testing.
This took nearly two hours with ultrasound gel from crotch to toes and my vessels decided to go for the hide and seek championship. They kept rolling away being total dicks to find which sucks for me because you're on a table tilted so you're sort of 'standing' on one leg and then other. Want to know how much it hurt to a) have someone pressing an ultrasound head into you when you're already having a pain day b) having to stand on the bad leg for an hour (boy does my knee hurt now) SOmeone next door kept screaming. I'm like it's an ultrasound this is at best pressure.
I'm looking at the time thinking I'll barely make it for the 3 o'clock showing and 4 o'clock is the latest I'd go to because I still need to eat, want to go back to Trader Joe's and the Van Gogh thing is north of Columbus so about 110 miles from home. Then he wants to see me again.
Long story short I didn't leave the clinic until 430 (so much for Van Gogh, thank god I didn't buy a ticket) and he said while I have varicose veins in the left it's not so bad, the right leg's great saphaneous vein is GONE. It's severely affected with bad regurgitation of blood and takes several seconds to reverse itself. It needs to be ablated but we both agree it can wait because I wont' be able to exercise and I can't stop strengthening this leg now (ironically getting this done WAS my plan for this summer until I fell).
So Van Gogh was off the table. I went back to Whole Food and got some more burrata cheese and some strawberry hemp granola and then because I was starving (god knows why I had a big turkey sandwich for lunch) I got some cookies, one of which was a Pumpkin stealth (I think) cookie from their help yourself bar, it was like a peanut butter cup or pecan tassie in shape, covered in Royal icing wiht pumpkin seeds on the top but inside was a pumpkin caramel that was to die for. I was sad I didn't get more of that.
I hit Trader Joes and got a ridiculous amount of food. You can't get one more thing in my fridge or freezer. I also got their triple ginger ginger snaps which had real ginger chunks in it. SO GOOD.
I wanted to go to Momo Gar Nepalese place which had moved up there but it was closed MOndays. So is the usual place I go at the casino. Sigh. I didn't want chilis again. I should have gone across the street to the Mexican place but I go poking up the street and found Gokul, an indian place. I can't get Indian here unless I drive to Athens or Gallipolis. Well I should have left. NO ONE was in the place but when the owner looked at me I panicked. The food was good but I'm reminded why I can't eat Indian any more. Like Chinese places they expect you to fill up on rice. Unlike Chinese there isn't enough food to make it worth your while, it's 90% sauce to go on the rice. Sigh. I can't have rice but had to eat it. Expensive mistake.
Another mistake, I went to Tim Horton's for my coffee for the drive home not realizing they had shortened their hours. I got there 2 minutes before closing. Here have the end of the day gross coffee. sigh.
By the time I got home, I was so tired and in pain I couldn't get onto my own porch. It took six tries. I'm afraid to see what happens when I get off this couch (keeping in mind that's how I fell last time)
I'm glad half my labs tomorrow will be me sitting down as they take a test.
