Ventured into West Virginia
Oct. 23rd, 2021 09:17 pmWhere the mall is. Let me tell you, WV hasn't gone all online. That mall was jammed.
Before I got there I went to my comic book store only to realize I probably won't have to go back much any more. The Buffy books annoyed me so I had canceled them (I did take one with a vampire Faith/ vampire Buffy cover today) but ALL of the Sandman universe books were canceled by DC including hellblazer. I'm like dudes, Sandman is about to hit Netflix and you cancel everything related to it. Does that seem smart? I did find a Teen Titan mini series and some independant horror that I put in for. There was a new Locke & Key one BUT it was 7$ per comic, not a graphic novel, not a manga, your usual comic book so about twice the usual price. Keep it. I don't need it that bad.
I did stop at Stewart Hot Dog, a drive up hot dog stand that's been in Huntington since 1932. Good dogs (couldn't go to hillbilly hot dogs because it was so damn crowded again. Good for them though)
Michaels was showing the effects of the chain of supply issues. NOTHING on the shelves just a few christmas flowers and I asked about the hot chocolate bomb molds and was told theirs was too small, go buy it on amazon. (figures) However they DID have more of those highly expensive Lemax halloween village pieces half off (they had exactly one in Sept) so I bought it because this year has sucked it.
Spirit Halloween had nothing of interest and Macy's proved that my 80s idea is good because the fashion is back. I could have peeled a couple of the outfits right off Janet Jackson back in the day. Books a Million proves my interest in manga is waning a bit. I did want to try Moriarty the Patriot but naturally they don't have #1.

THe seasonal Pumpkin Waffles - Nice pumpkin taste but man these are even thinner than an Eggo so there's that. They're tasty though
Spicy Pumpkin Samosas - frozen, okay the wrapper is good but it basically just tastes like curry. I mean it's tasty but i couldn't tell you it had pumpkin in it. there was a vague winter squash taste but thats about it.
Ube tea cookies - tiny ube yam shortbreads. Are they good? Yes. Do they taste like ube? Not really. There is a thorough cover of powdered sugar glaze and that's about all you taste, just super sweet
Strawberry yogurt pretzels - very tasty. However, if I had my eyes closed I'd never know it was strawberry. It just has a sweet taste and I inhaled the bag but eh.
Crispy thai chilies and sesame seeds snack - I don't want to be disparaging, it might be cultural but mine looks nothing like the picture which has sesame seed-rice clusters. All I have at the top of my bag is dried red peppers and I'm sorry to me a snack is NOT a handful of hot AF peppers. Once I finish my olive jar I'll wash it out and put this in there so I can grind the peppers for cooking. Maybe I'll find a rice cluster...
Butternut Squash mac N cheese bites - okay who the fuck is eating this? It's made Best Of TJ lists. This stuff is VILE. I remembered my friend Flippy saying you need to try the frozen butternut squash mac n cheese. I didn't think she meant this but I wasn't sure. Well she had warned me away but I forgot that. Pity me. The first bite coated my mouth in grease. The mouth feel was awful. I ate more of it getting a bitter squash taste. These things tasted like they were hate fucked by sage and oil. I still have half a bag. I think I'll feed them to the garbage.
I came home an my former landlord's son came over to tell me h is dad sold the rv campground AND my storage locker. I can still pay him as he's half owner of it now but annoying. He also gave me the code to get back into the laundry.
