Last Day here
Jan. 6th, 2026 11:00 pmMom and I went to the casino to lose money and I did that well. Mom won. We also hit Primanti's and I got a second rubber ducky in my duck juice cocktail so yay for that.
I am not ready for work for reasons I don't want to get into publicly and has everything to do with the changes Ohio's Republicans have made with education.
So for my second fannish 50, have bunch of fandom related end of year memes
from
kingstoken
Your main fandom last year? Hazbin Hotel
Your favorite movie watched last year? Well I only watched one at the theater, the latest fantastic four and I did enjoy it.
Your favorite book read last year? mystery - To Slip the Bonds of Earth by Amanda Flower, graphic novel - Lackadaisy: Volume #2 by Tracy J. Butler
UF/F/SF - The Left-Handed Booksellers of London by Garth Nix
YA - When the Bones Sing by Ginny Myers Sain
Nonfiction - Haunted Cemeteries of Ohio by E.R. Cutright (slim pickings this year)
Your favorite TV show of the year? If animated streamers count, Hazbin Hotel
Boy I’m not really watching much new tv that’s for sure. I guess it would be Evil Lives Here (true crime)
Your favorite video game of the year? ha I’m only playing June’s Journey. I know I’m lame but at my age it helps to have something that works the memorization skills.
Your favorite song, album, or artist to listen to this year? Hmmm good question, I think I’ll say David Kushner’s new album.
Favorite podcast of the year? I can count on my fingers how many times I turned on a podcast this year so skip.
Your best new fandom discovery of the year? The Amazing Digital Circus
Your biggest fandom disappointment?
The pacing in Hazbin Hotel’s second season but the REAL disappointment are the HH and TADC fans who can’t seem to understand voice actors playing villains aren’t bad, that are constantly demonizing female characters and creators, etc etc
Your TV boyfriend of the year? Well if animated people count, Husk from Hazbin then. If not let’s go with Special Agent Parker (Gary Cole) on NCIS (who is leaving. Boo)
Your TV girlfriend of the year?
A tie between D'Vana Tendi (Star trek Lower Decks) Rosie (Hazbin Hotel)
Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Fannish? Losing Streak and Love in a Bottle and Husk and Angel’s entire interaction in the casino
Fandom resolutions for 2026?
To not pick up NEW challenges. It’s too much what I do already
Your biggest fannish anticipations for the new year?
I don’t have many. I guess it would be the last two episodes of The Amazing Digital Circus. Hazbin S3 might be out by the end of the year so there’s that. Maybe Knights of Guinevere and Lackadaisy might have more episodes out (I actually don’t know)

What’s the best book you read in 2025?
Points up to the other meme
What’s the worst book you read in 2025?
Hmm barring the ones I DNFed there’s Ripped Tide by Lance Carney
X-Gender, Vol. 1 by Asuka Miyazaki & Spellbound: A Graphic Memoir by Bishakh Kumar Som These were two graphic novels/manga I picked up for non-binary and trans memoirs. Both were joyless slogs with X-Gender mostly railing at bisexual women and how we’re not doing sex right and Spellbound was much more about the author’s whining about life being hard for graphic novelists and her drinking.
Feral, Vol. 1: Indoor Cats by Tony Fleecs – who decided a graphic novel series about a zombie apocalypse only it’s cats with rabies and almost all of them die graphically was a good idea?
The book that disappointed you the most?
Ash's Cabin by Jen Wang another joyless slog of a non binary graphic novel memoir with a crappy message (unintentional I suspect)
The Smoke in His Voice by J.V. Silver – self pubbed, SO badly edited that good ideas were lost. No lie, if they had been at the con again this past year I would liked to speak to them…
The Secret of Orange Blossom Cake by Rachel Linden -interesting idea terrible execution
The hardest book you read (topic or writing style)?
Also The Smoke in His Voice by J.V. Silver for the above reason
The Turn of the Screw by Henry James – wow how did this become a classic
The funniest book you read?
Honestly I didn’t read anything that was meant to be funny
The saddest book you read?
Honestly I didn’t read anything that was meant to be sad
A book that touched you?
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery which I did not expect to like
A(nother) book you read in 2025 you want to recommend (maybe one that you haven’t mentioned yet?)
Last Dance Before Dawn by Katharine Schellman. I’m getting into 20s era mysteries and this is the last the series. I would like to go back and see the rest.
Were you part of a reading challenge? Did you meet it?
oh so many, popsugar, alphabet, literary destinations,
kingstoken’s bingo, goodreads reading challenge (100 books) I finished all but the destinations but that’s okay. I wasn’t aiming to
Which authors featured most prominently for you in 2025?
Ah I tend to never read more than one book per author per year so I guess it would be Lackadaisy’s author Tracy J. Butler since I read 2 volumes
The book series you read the most volumes of?
I read What Cannot Be Said by C.S. Harris which is the 19th book in the Sebastian St Cyr series so that’s the one I’ve read the most of.
The last book you finished in 2025 year?
The Poorly Made and Other Things by Sam Rebelein a horror anthology by one author set in his novel’s universe. It was pretty good
The first book you will finish in 2026?
Tell-Tale Treats: A Magical Fortune Cookie Novel by Jennifer J. Chow ( ebook)
Murder Made Her Wicked by Elizabeth Hobbs (physical) both already finished and reviewed
The genre you read the most in 2025?
like most years, mystery
Which books are you most looking forward to reading in 2026?
I got a new manga I was looking forward to reading and another new 1920s mystery
And finally, make a New Year’s Resolution: How many books do you think you will read in 2026?
100 like last year

trobadora the end of year writing meme
Total number of posted stories in 2025: 72 (I think)
Total word count (posted): 372,644
Total word count (written): 411,371 (this includes all the original fic)
Fandoms written in:
Hazbin Hotel, The Owl House, The Amazing Digital Circus, helluva boss, prodigal son and many one offs in other fandoms
Ratings written:
mostly teen and up but I write all ratings
Categories written:
hurt/comfort, whump, erotica, case fic, action/adventure, horror
Fandoms I wouldn't have expected to write this year:
The Amazing Digital Circus, Hudson & Rex
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
close to prediction
What's your own favorite story of the year? I have a few
Between Hoping and Hurting
The Porn Star Murders
If Anything's Worth My Love, It's Worth a Fight
Dandelions
Favorite title:
Xylophone Bone Zone Because it’s mine. I’ve been doing lyrical titles so much last year that most are NOT my titles
My best story of this year:
Between Hoping and Hurting
My most popular story of this year:
Most popular by AO3 hit count: - Hope is The Thing With Feathers
Most popular by AO3 kudos: Hope is The Thing With Feathers
Most popular by AO3 bookmarks: Hope is The Thing With Feathers
Most popular by AO3 comment threads: The Porn Star Murders
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Red Rain Is Coming Down All Over Me
The Spider Brothers AU series some are well received, others …..
Hurt So Good shockingly low rating for a pure smut story in Hazbin’s huskerdust fanbase
Remnant of Hope. (another shockingly low engagement story)
Most fun story to write:
Between Hoping and Hurting
Sexiest story/story with the single sexiest moment:
If Anything's Worth My Love, It's Worth a Fight
Maybe He’s No Romeo
Favorite opening:
If Anything's Worth My Love, It's Worth a Fight
One of these days Assistant Director Alastor was going to knock before barging into Husk’s office; today wasn’t that day. Husk jumped in his seat, trying not to wince as things scraped in the process.
“Agent Whiskey.” Alastor’s always amused and arrogant tone was the last thing Husk wanted to hear before his second cup of coffee.
“Sir.” He bit his bottom lip, trying to gain a little control of himself.
“Where is Agent Webs? He should be here for this.” He drummed his fingers against the top of his cane.
“Don’t know, sir. You know him. He’s probably in front of a bathroom mirror checking his makeup or down in the breakroom gossiping.”
Alastor’s put-out sigh was almost worth the sudden stab of pain in Husk’s thigh. He pushed a hand under the desk. Alastor cocked up an eyebrow.
“Thought a spider ran up my leg…or a roach.” Husk shuddered and a second blast of pain joined the first.
Favorite ending:
Between Hoping and Hurting
By the time the old guy was hitting on Vivian Leigh in the opening scene, Angel had relaxed entirely. Forgiving Husker had rolled a mountain off his chest. Beating Val had been the most cathartic thing he’d ever done. Now all he wanted was to spend a sweet night with Husker, Fat Nuggets, and the theater system. He’d earned it. He put one bowl in his lap and Husker did the same so they could sit hip to hip. Angel slipped one of his many arms under Husker’s back and sighed. They might be in hell but after today it looked a lot less gloomy to him. Maybe finally his life was taking a turn for the better. He was owed that much after Valentino. Maybe not but tonight he allowed himself to believe it was true. He was no longer trapped between hoping and hurting. Angel was letting hope in.
Did you take any writing risks this year?
Not in fandom not really
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
write more profic and less fanfic
