I heard a kitten crying as I got out of my car at work. Looked around, didn't see it. Sounded like it was done the storm drain, couldn't see it. Looked under my hood, nothing. I tell the secretary. She and some students found the kitten down the storm drain. A little black fluffball. Cat number 42 rescued. Secretary's daughter is keeping the little thing (which bit me, got a baby tooth mark in my cuticle).

And ALL the cool new stuff that we ordered using the donation money came in. I have new models AND the new physiology equipment. I am thrilled.

I am watching a program on the missing/murdered Native girls in Montana. Look I knew it was bad. I was aware nearly SEVEN THOUSAND Native America girls have gone missing since 2016. The most recent case of the missing white woman reminded me of how we NEVER see women of color getting the same coverage. What I didn't know was 40% of all trafficked women are Native. The level of incompetence and flat out lying about these cases is astonishing. If this was anyone but Natives, we'd be hearing about it. (and a lot of the blame is right on the tribal police and the conflicting jurisdictions are not helping). It is so sad. While I'm glad Oxygen ran this program but this needs to be out there so much more. Sigh.

Snippet - As the dogs ran for them they broke up out of their clump pulling on the magic doors they hid their weapons behind. Alessia pulled forth her sword, casting a spell. Fire roll down the blade and she pulled it like taffy so it burned around her non-sword hand. Dan did likewise as Grace charged up along with Laura.

“You’re some fine looking dogs,” Dan said. The energy of his magic tweaked Alessia’s skin. Dan didn’t l like this particular magic of his, related to the Filipino Usikan, sorcerers who cursed by paying compliments but he’d use it as necessary. The dogs collided with each other going down.

Dan and Laura swooped in to finish them but the dogs shook it off faster than they expected. Dan danced back, his blade scoring a glancing blow on its side. Alessia raced forward only to come up short as something else freed itself from the shadows. The evil radiating off it twisted her stomach, bile rushing up. She barely swallowed it back as the demon put itself together from the shadows seemingly gaining bulk with each shadow that joined its body.

“A real demon,” Laura said, her voice a tight squeak.
