Writerly Ways
Jan. 30th, 2022 09:05 pmI made it to the casino and it was actually a nice day for the drive. I'm a little worried now because I don't see my flashdrive in the computer bag and I remember getting it from the other computer. Everything for work is on that so I sure as hell hope I forgot it on the table or something but if I lost it at the hotel it would be here on the bed and it's not. Sigh.
On the drive I tried to think of a writerly ways. I even originally (last week) had a follow up to my women in horror post but I didn't write it down nor do I remember it. However I got to thinking about writing retreats. I've always wanted to do that.
Maggie Stiefvater is going to host one in a UK castle (that's all the more detail I have). She doesn't have it set in stone but knows it'll be over 2K for the retreat (sans airfare). The price isn't what has me hesitating. On one hand, sitting around writing is about the level of vacation I know I can handle (I'm afraid I can't handle anything else). On the other hand, if I go to the UK I want to SEE things, not just sit in the castle. It seems like a waste of a long trip across the ocean.
And do I really want to fly that far now?
The answer is probably no but I did ask to be emailed about it because who knows. It'll depend on where in the UK.
So have any of you tried a writing resort? Have you heard of any you might like to try?
ETA - Listen to your intuition. My brain kept saying look on the floor. Sure enough WAY up under the night stand was my flash drive. Had I ignored that I would have lost it.
Also I forgot to mention dinner at the brew pub (had a cake the great a chocolate coconut beer that was fantastic) I caught the overtime of the Bengals/Chiefs game and got to see the Bengals win. They're going to the superbowl for the first time since 1988 and all of Ohio (well maybe not Cleveland) is celebrating.
