Two jobs I would not be good at
Jun. 30th, 2022 09:39 pmcall center (done it twice, quit in a week twice). Well here I am with that phone that can't get nor send calls or text. Day 1 of the saga, I get the chat, get started, power goes out. what can you do?
Day 2 on the phone 2 hours with them. I get that there is a 'script' or a list of questions they must ask but common sense needs to come into play. If I'm telling you I had this phone for 3 years and it worked fine until 2 weeks ago WHY are you doing the brand new phone playbook? No my fucking sim card isn't in wrong. And how many times do I need to tell you you can't text me a verification code I CANT GET TEXTS. Oooooh. Yeah. So finally he decides he needs to send me up the chain to someone else and accidentally ends the call.
I call back and I'll give them this they DID do good notes and they could see what had been done (unlike Frontier where I swear you scream into the void). So she does something and says give it 24 hours and we'll call you back.
Day 3. they call me back. the phone isn't working yet. Another 2 hours (right at dinner, thanks, I don't mind waiting 2hours and reheating that stuff) and they STILL can't make it work. Now I get to wait 72 hours and if it stays dead they'll send me a free sim card. Can't you just do that now? GAH
The other job I'm ill suited for - travel agent. It occurred to me today that I haven't done this in forever. Usually vacation around my work convention so there's not much to do because I'm locked in. If I don't do that I pick packaged tours. I haven't had to plan every leg of a trip in ages.
And between covid and low-paid museum work (I'm assuming that one) half of the museums are only open a few days a week so now I'm trying to plan this to hit the areas when the things I want to see are open. NOTHING is open on a monday OMG. I only got 3 days in on a 10 day trip so far and I want to stab myself in the eyes.
And I'm now staying in a hotel almost in Providence even for my southern Rhode Island stuff because every hotel is 500-1700 a night. Dudes I want to sleep there not buy the joint. And that hotel had ONE room left and you'll get a laugh, the name of the street is Noose Neck Hill. OMG if this isn't a haunted hotel I'll be sad (I was going to stay inside a Providence landmark that is haunted when I get to that town BUT it has no parking so you have to park down a block or two for 25$ a night (which is more reasonable than I thought). Okay I'll stay outside the town. No problem.
This vacation is gonna kill me.
The people putting the roof on the back patio are coming tomorrow at 7AM (guess whose bedroom looks out onto the back patio. WAAH.
