I survived the 4th
Jul. 4th, 2022 10:09 pmIt's hard to say happy 4th this year and today more than I thought.
Started it with trying to get the damn hotel room. No one would answer the phone. Then it was too close to check out time so I gave up.
We headed out to my uncle's lake house and were surprised by a no-notice closure of the road over the bridge (over the Ohio), literally detour was put up a mere 500 yard away if that. So we tried to find a path to the road we needed. What we SHOULD have done was turn around and go the long way but we thought the GPS was taking us to Chester WV and from there we knew how to get around. Now it took us on a long -assed loop right back to the closed road. We then went the long way. a 1 1/2 hr trip took three damn hours so none of us were in a good mood.
Even the boat ride didn't help much like it usually did (and I had planned to call the hotel when we got there but because of this it was now check IN time and i'm like nope).
My aunt's brother and his S.O. brought an 8 month old English-bred chocolate lab with them. Brodie, being a lab, loves everyone. My hand spent a lot of time in his mouth. He licked the back of my knees and thighs constantly, most action they've seen in forever. He was a bright spot.
Got back home without agita.
Called the hotel and got that damn room.
My feet are neuropathic and I didn't feel my sandles wearing a blister until it was pretty bad so that's upsetting.
