That I have Thursdays off this semester so I don't do dumb things like go to the mall on Saturdays. Well I needed to go to the comic book store to get my comics so off I went. Okay who knew Gambit got a new comic book. I picked it up and...he's raising a de-aged Ororo as a thief? Um... and also wow reading an accent written as an adult vs reading it as a young adult I've learned I'm WAY less tolerant of it. That said I might get the comic because Gambit dammit.

I can't complain because they DO get all the variants for me and let me pick the covers I want. I don't do it based on what I think will be worth $$$ down the road. I pick what appeals to me. I goofed and forgot to tell them I wanted Grim which has taken off and in 4 months the original print #1 are over 40$ and even the fourth printing is hard to find. Who knew?

From there I went for lunch (because there was a half million bikers at Hillbilly hotdogs and the line was out to the road so no thanks). I go to TJ Maxx/Home Goods only to find there was very little clothing that appealed and the Halloween stuff was not my style at all. I did find a few things in the food goods (and a coffin platter). I turn to get in line. THere are over 40 people in that line. I'm like yeah I'm good. I do not need this stuff.

Macy's also had the ugliest fucking summer shirts marked down. (I saw an article by Nordstrom's whining the inflation is keeping people buying even on clearance. No Nordstrom's it's because you had the fulgliest clothes too. No one wants that. There were dozens of people looking to buy two weeks ago in Nordstroms and today in Macy's) They even had jeans for 4.50$, skinny jeans. Yeah keep them. No one wants that either obviously.

I DID however find Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. That's funny because I was just talking to someone wondering whatever happened to Gloria? Did I fall into a time warp? I haven't heard that brand since 1989. Well they fit, they were on sale and I finally owned a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. Now, let's back up as to why this is important. 16-18 year old me was DESPERATE for these jeans but they were very expensive back then (the 35$ I just paid was about what they cost in the 80s) and my parents couldn't afford them.

I was convinced if I had them I'd get picked on less because I was always mocked for not having them. Of course that only makes sense in a teen brain. It was never about me not having designer clothes. It was always about me being everything they weren't, everything they feared. I was different. I was creative and smart. I didn't fit the mold and they were going to break me into it if it was the last thing they did. Dungeons & Dragons playing, SF watching, comic book reading, authors could only get away with that IF they were boys back then. We still get shit 40 years later only now I could care less. I was never going to let anyone dim my light and now I have my fucking jeans so take that. (and no 40 years is not nearly enough time to forgive those people)

I went to Michael's to get some rhinestones to glue over a hole in a shirt with rhinestones. No joy. I did get a packet of chains for pendants but only one was 30 inches. I missed that the other was only 18 and too small. Oh well they were 4$. Actually Michael's had very little Halloween left. I did get one more thing for my Halloween village, you know that thing I'm not collecting because of cost. (It was only 30% off. There was one other piece but that has to go 50% or no dice). They didn't have a ton of Halloween this year and it was all about love lasting beyond death.... I did get some tombstone silicone chocolate molds. I almost bought the melting discs until I realized they were just colored, thickened sugar NOT chocolate. Nope.

Spirit Halloween no longer has small animatronics. I was ready to splurge. I have no room for a 6 foot animatronic (nor the desire to put out 300$ for them). Most of what they did have was still fun but also almost identical to last year with one exception. They leaned hard into the Haunted Mansion collectibles.

Booksamillion (like Macy's) is having a remodel. They are now importing SO MUCH manga I'm not sure it's possible to even know what's there. It was literally a quarter of the store and some of it is weird (and skinny books) and some is big. I picked up another new one because I can't even remember where I left off with my others (and I'm getting bored with most of them). The last new one I tried in May was horrible. Hopefully this will be better.

Things I didn't expect to see at the Barboursville WV Booksamillion, an ombre haired anime girl in a loli outfit and turquoise pony boots walking with her dad.

I did try to go to Panera as I love their asiago cheese bagels but the last three times they've been burnt so I went inside (instead of getting burned in the drive thru) and yep ALL their bagels are so brown they're nearly black. Dudes, get someone who knows how to cook these things. I don't have this issue in Chillicothe

I think a combo of tortilla chips and a caramel macchiato was a super bad idea. I was bleary driving home in spite of taking 30 units of insulin. My sugar was over 300 when I got here. Took another 30 units of insulin. 3 hours later my sugar has not budged. Took MORE insulin. Watch me have a hypoglycemic attack at 3 AM. It's weird. I have a sugary coffee once a week here and my sugar doesn't do this. So either it's the combo or they put more sugar.

Rocket is being adorable, sleeping on his back in a mess of books (too messy to take a pic). Last night and tonight he doesn't want out. I would love it if he wanted to be 100% and used the litter. Maybe we're moving that way.
