I got lost in Jungle Jim's
Dec. 14th, 2022 10:20 pmI had only one thing planned for today going shopping in 200,000 sqft international grocery store and that is what I did (and my legs feel like it) I started it off with the kombucha shop's persimmon kombucha which was 'hard' so it's 10 AM and I'm downing a pint of 6% alcohol tea because what could go wrong with shopping tipsy?
I should NOT be left alone in that store. My credit cards should be removed from my wallet. It is nuts how much I spent (so it's going to be an expensive holiday in regards to my parents but I decided I don't care. How many more will I get? Mom will be 80 two days before Christmas and Dad will be 80 a month later). At one or two points I had NO idea where in the hell I was at in that store. There was no going back to return things to their proper shelf if I changed my mind. I hate dumping things anywhere but...
There is literally six canvas grocery bags filled with goodies. Now some is for me. I found the Filipino banana ketchup!! I'm excited (watch it be gross). I found cloudberry jam and then saw it was 15$ and put it back (I DO have limits) I found goetta for dad (some kind of weird sausage thing famous in Cincinnati) I found stuff from Japan, Italy, Greece, Germany, Poland, Holland, Ireland, England (including a figgy pudding I probably paid too much for but I will make a brandy-butter sauce that should make it good if it's not the best), I got taiyaki for me, ploughman's pickle for me and mom and cheese. SO. Much. Cheese! Like there is probably 40$ in cheese. Got olives, banana blossoms, weird shit I can't even read the directions for (let's see if I can work out the pictures).
There is stuff for my parents. Stuff for friends. Stuff for my aunts and uncles. My SUV will be riding low on the way home from here. I didn't get home in time to go to the work Christmas party. Oh well.
It rained ALL the way home but it's hard to complain about that. It's December after all. It has rained 11 out of the last 12 days (So I got very lucky yesterday) As much as I like snow even I wouldn't like that much.
Day 13
Adagio - Mocha Nute Mate - toasted green mate, chocolate chips and hazelnuts - pretty much tasted like nuts (high caffeine)
Yawn Brew - Cookie - black tea with cornflower, calendula, jasmine and rose petals - Cookies? not really but it's a very nice floral black tea.
Day 14
Adagio - Cherry Marzipan oolong. Oolong, apple pieces, cinnamon, cherry and almond flavoring. It is exactly as advertised cherry-almonds
Yawn Brew - Chocolate rooibos - composed of exactly those two things. Tasted like rooibos so meh.
