Signs of Spring
Feb. 22nd, 2023 10:01 pmeven though Spring is weeks away, the spring peepers are out and the ditch daffodils are blooming.
The knee kept me up much of the night. Also it kept giving out all day. I am displeased.
Today went badly. The exam review went like I was speaking a language the students have never heard. But we've been studying. At one point I DID ask WHAT are you studying because it's not the material. You have things literally backwards.
Came home and got the loan stuff straightened out. I will say Navient IS easy to talk to once you get a live person. It was in 'reset' mode. God knows why. Watch me have to do this again next month.
I went to go to the faculty meeting on Teams. First I can't get in thanks to two point verification and my phone was having none of it. Rebooted the phone and it worked. Then there was a conflict between my personal Microsoft teams and the work version. Long story short, nope, no go. Sigh.
I don't like to single out authors, especially ones that are likely self pubbers (maybe? this is translated so maybe not which makes it worse) but this is not how to do a book blurb. (also 7000 words is NOT a summary) It's just very weird but it teaches us things by example if nothing else.
What I Just Finished Reading:
I, Robot, thank god that's done with. That was just...ugh
The Keeper's Six by Kate Elliott a SF/Fantasy hybrid novella that I enjoyed
The Last Party by Clare Mackintosh (forgot to mention I was even reading this arc) mystery set in wales. I enjoyed it but it's a little too convoluted.
What I am Currently Reading:
Little Eve by Catriona Ward gothic horror (historical) and weird, deeply weird
There Comes a Darkness by Katy Rose Pool fantasy, like 500 pages. I have too many that are this long. I'm losing patience for that.
Sonnets from the Portuguese by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. I know these are supposed to be some of the best romantic poetry written by a woman. WHO decided that? they are dull and obsessed with death and God. they're weird.
What I Plan to Read Next:
Something for Popsugar or Legends and Lattes if it comes
