Writerly Ways
Mar. 13th, 2023 08:22 pmSecond try. I manage to hit my touch mouse and somehow highlighted and deleted my entire post so I’m doing this in word this time since you can’t recover it in DW. Grumbles.
Okay I now get it, the whole you need to stop using he said she said dialogue tags. On the way here I was listening to Evanovich’s less than stellar book The Recovery Agent and she WAY overuses them. Now would I have been that in tune with this issue had I not been reading up on it? Maybe not since I’ve listened to a fair number of audio books and never noticed it before. Or maybe this book has them in places not needed (it does).
Now, here’s another thought on the topic, we have auditory cues in audiobooks if the voice actor is doing their job we shouldn’t need to be told who is talking. We need the cues on the written page. So maybe we can possibly just edit some of that in the conversion to audio?
