Well it was a weird night. Just as I was getting into bed at 2 AM (what can I say, TCM had the original Poltergeist on and yes I could have recorded it but watching it after midnight in a storm sounded like more fun) I heard a distinct gasp and a woman say help me help me (I was worried it was mom but she's fine)
I also had a strange dream I had the ability to befriend and command birds. Did my brain give me crows or ravens which I would love? Hawks because they're cool? No. Turkey buzzards. Frakking turkey buzzards. Also in that dream my mother grabbed my laptop screen and it snapped in half like a saltine.
So I start for Rathacon aiming to get there around 1 pm because at this point I'm not even sure if my steampunk group is doing anything because the two big showrunners couldn't be there and no one really mentioned anything. I got a little nervous getting there because a) there were ponds where ponds weren't two days ago because of how much it rained yesterday b) the wind was SO high road signs were jimmying around like they were about to take flight.
I got there and saw a young girl doing a great Amity from The OWl House (her Ghost palistrum was fantastic) but it was so damn windy we were all holding our costumes on and she was on the way out so no pic. Lunch was disappointing. The sickness is making my sugar high so I said no to the pizza on fries food truck (because I was getting pizza from my fave place) and the wrap place had bacon cheddar tots that I wanted but said no be good. I got the veggie wrap. Wrong. It was just cold lettuce cukes, peppers and onions, so basically a salad...ugh. I mean it tasted fine but hardly what I was hoping for.
I found all my friends before I even got into the place. It was nice catching up with everyone. I haven't seen most of them since this time last year as everyone is SO busy the airship really isn't doing much of anything. I learned that the con had extended the times to 7 pm instead of 5 so that meant the raffle wasn't going off for hours so I said no because I knew I was too tired to stay that long. (I barely made two hours)
I got a lot of compliments on my costume, even my TARDIS mask (might as well protect everyone from whatever this is). On the other hand the offerings of the con were...less than even usual. A lot of the same group of vendors and way more books than I expected and I bought...none. wow. I did get a comic book from the artist I usually buy from.
But nothing was from my fandoms except for the Amigurumi horror monsters. I DO NOT need another damned stuffed animal but man I wanted that Pinhead from hellraiser. Sadly they didn't have it in small sizes (kids keep picking them up and they didn't want kids to get hurt). If they had a small one I'd have bought it for my brother (who likes sending me Pinhead clips when I'm in PT) I should have taken their card and asked if they do custom work. There was another one that had cute cats and I think they're the ones I bought Eda the owl from last year but their prices were insane.
I did get a wooden bookmark and someone had earrings for 3$ I can't even imagine how she's making money at that price. I got a set of 20 sided dice and ones that said ugh because that's where I am. No pictures because I'm tired. Maybe tomorrow.
Might be going to see D&D with friends ...70 miles from here in a town I just discovered and really wanted to visit so maybe?
The day got weird because Mother Nature is high again. It was 70 when I walked into the community center for the con and 45 when I walked out two hours later.
I tried to go shopping but I didn't m ake it past the cheeses. I bought a lot of those and the brown sugar bacon from the butcher side of the Kroger's which is way cheaper than buying it packaged. weird.
