I make bad choices
Mar. 31st, 2023 11:16 pmI made it through work in a mask. I'm feeling a wee bit better tonight maybe enough to go masked to rathacon tomorrow. (It's not covid but it is annoying) Anyhow since I was feeling tired I decided let's make an easy dinner since the tornado warnings and driving rains suggested going to Jackson would be a bad idea. I remembered I had Trader Joe's Cacio de pepe raviolis in my fridge (I need to stop with all of these are start making my own because my body can't handle that white flour pasta but's not the really bad choice here)
So I'm like winner winner pasta dinner. I'll make cacio de pepe sauce (which is what that really is. It translates to cheese and pepper. It's literally just dry roasted coarse ground black pepper and pecorino romano cheese with pasta water. (In America it usually also has butter or olive oil and I admit it, I like tiny bit of butter in mine. Criminal I know) Either I had too much pepper roasting in the skillet or I had the heat up too high because when I put the pasta water ladle full into the skillet I created a cloud of pepper oil. I'm still coughing 4 hours later. Whee.
Got a story rejection tonight. I'm rather sad about that one mostly because I really like this story (but apparently no one else does) . I thought it fit well. They said they had hundreds of submissions and want me to try the next one so it's a good rejection but still. They're doing the A-Z of horror and the next up is S for Slasher. Bah. I have no slasher stories nor do I want to write one.
I did get my novel blurb sent in to the publisher. (Thanks Betty) and I'm struggling with adding Hunter into this story. Sigh. However I based the cabin Brendan is staying in on the one my friend owns which is very basic. And that is fine. However, the real rentals are almost ALL more elaborate so I might want to flesh that out some.
No fandom round up because I want to get off here because of the storm. Hopefully tomorrow.
