Today started

With me putting my clothes on over my nightgown and couldn't figuring out what was wrong. I'm failing on every level this week. But the good news is I didn't have to go to the school and be on TV. So I went to Jackson to do laundry so I could meet with the new temporary hire and help him out tomorrow...meaning two more days of not getting this house cleaned.

Okay I made SOME progress in the living room.

I also have bone soup in the crock pot and the house smells amazing.

But I couldn't find my Christmas decorations 0_0! I have NO idea. I thought they were in the storage unit (which has an intact key lock on it so...) but I opened all the boxes and it was all books and Halloween other than my new Christmas Penguin which has all the paint chipped off and I haven't even put him out there yet (well he's there NOW). WTF?

So I ducked into Big Lots to look for more of those solar panel lights but I guess that was a short lived thing. It occured to me there that the boxes might be behind the TV box so I'll go look again tomorrow. I ended up buying a polar bear with her baby on her back because it was 50% off. No one else but one person has lights on. So everyone merry bear and penguin-mas.

Have been barely been writing. Someone kick my ass please.


Also NO ONE (let me repeat NO ONE) has put in for the Welsh Fellowship AGAIN. So I'm going to work up a proposal over break. I'm looking at Welsh medicine from ancient times to say the 1500s. It would take me back to Wales (and from there maybe I'll go to Scotland or Cornwall or something). Isle of skye? I'm disappointed in the sheer laziness of my fellow faculty. They're also looking into having us go to China for two weeks in March. I'm considering that too.

For the 15th day of advent (omg already??) Have a couple from a young woman I'm only getting to know. I've heard this first one on the radio and was rather blown away. I didn't know they still did this sort of sound, bordering on rock-a-billy and/or blues. So have some Dorothy.

And the fun thing is Spotify made me a 2016 album of my most listened to stuff. It's a gear stripping mix of Nox Arcana (and other Goth), Abney Park (and other Steampunk) mixed with jazz and classical.

Good luck with the scholarship. Who the heck are these people turning down a trip to Wales?

Part of it is the weird conditions, i.e. it has to be culturally relative. It literally takes out most of math/science unless you really bend it (and it doesn't easily make for a publishable paper) but why aren't the humanities all over this?

I was really surprised to hear her on the radio. Rock stations here don't tend to play a lot of women.
