I spent this day editing all the things and getting ready for classes tomorrow. I also took the time to a) make a Pinhole projector out of my binoculars so I can view the eclipse tomorrow and b) put together a brand new task chair which is super comfy but it took me 40 minutes to get the freaking castor wheels on it. They did NOT want to go in. The rest of the chair went together easily which I'm taking as a sign of quality construction.

So today's writerly ways is 'how do you keep your head up in this writing game?' No, seriously I want to know. How do you pick yourself up and dust yourself off and more importantly, why?

I know the why for me. I love telling stories. But man some days it's hard. Let me clue you in on the NEW drama over on Jana's FB page. Okay it doesn't directly affect me but i can't even believe it needs talking about. (and I'm not even talking about once again someone getting yelled at for daring to write gay men without having a romance because seriously people, if you're only reading gay literature for the sex, you're doing everyone a disservice).

No, apparently people are now being yelled at and denigrated for promoting author's books. I'm not talking about constantly promoing your OWN book (which is annoying) but for promoing another author's books. That's part of marketing. I don't get it. I don't even see WHY this is a problem. How can anyone see me promoing another author on my page as a PROBLEM? It's freaking expected. Hell almost every book from a major publisher comes with sound bite promos on the back cover from other authors. This is a thing. It's been a thing for decades.

So far no one has yelled at ME for promoing another author's books (which I often do on a daily basis on my blog, on FB, on Twitter but if they do, I will not be kind.

Seriously some days I wonder about people and I wonder about this whole profession.
