Summer/Numbers challenge
Jun. 6th, 2005 01:11 pmIt actually looks like summer here in the North Woods (though even in fiction numbers still scare me so...) All of the drabbles are PG-13 except the Spike/Dru which almost approaches R for sexual suggestion.
Angel - pretty much any time - Lost Summers
Summers meant even Father was a little more leisurely, a little less concerned with business. It meant days in the sun with his friends, splashing in mud holes looking for frogs with his friends. They would shuck off all the wool and cool their skins in the streams and ponds. Mother would make wonderful desserts with the berries she’d send him to pick and scold him gently for coming home with lips rouged by berry juice.
Angel gazed at the sunbeam on the floor from the shadows. He missed feeling the kiss of summer’s lemony sunlight. Just another thing lost.
Spike/Dru – pre show - Summer Nights
He loved summer, all the hot young bodies barely clothed. The smell of sun tanning lotion and sweat made him hard and hungry. Fourth of July was his favorite day to hunt ever since coming to the States. Plenty of bodies around, so many tits all but bared by bikini tops. He could remember a time when a bared ankle was grounds for arrest.
Spike would wait for the fireworks to start. No one would hear their cries, if he allowed them to make one, over the booming noise. Dru was watching shirtless young men. His dark rose loved summer, too.
Xander – pre show – Summer school
He was jealous. Everyone was going to be having fun. It was summer, school was out and that was a big yay but he had one not-so-small problem. School wasn’t out for him. Xander pouted. Life wasn’t fair. Everyone else was going to get days on the beach, summer pick-up ball games, not that he was that good in sports. Days in the sun, lazing around, watching tv and sleeping until noon. And what was he going to get? Summer school just because math wasn’t his thing. Numbers sucked. At least he wouldn’t be alone. Jesse was incarcerated with him.
Buffy/Dawn between S4/St5 – Summer Battles
“Absolutely not!” Buffy said.
“You’re not the boss of me,” Dawn said defiantly.
“When Mom’s in LA, I am. You are not going out of this house wearing nothing,” Buffy said, glancing over at Tara and Willow for support. The witches wisely stayed out of it.
“I’m wearing a bikini. It’s what you wear to the beach,” Dawn snarked back.
“Not when you’re fourteen. I know you have a one piece now go put it on or you’re not going,” Buffy ordered. Dawn stomped off.
Buffy slumped against the wall. “Now I know why Mom hates the first days of summer.”
Willow/Tara between S4/5 - Summer Harvest
Willow watched Tara work, her lover looking almost serene as she set up the altar for the summer harvest. Willow had never really gotten into the whole religious aspect of magic but it was important to Tara.
Tara made little corn dollies for the goddess, made wheat breads in the shape of the sun. She tried to get Willow to weave wheat with her but Willow’s efforts looked sad. Tara wanted to go to an orchard for Lughnasadh but neither of them had time for a long drive north. Willow just wished she could feel Tara’s serenity with the ritual.
Connor/Fred/Gunn between S3-4 – Summer Fears
Connor touched his face with a trembling hand. It was blood red and his shoulders were covered with blisters. “I am a monster,” he whispered.
“Nah man, we just should have told you about sun screen,” Gunn said, leaning in the bathroom doorway.
“Sun burns vampires,” Connor snarled. “I’m…horrible, a demon.”
“Connor, everyone gets sun burned if they aren’t careful,” Fred said, slathering aloe vera gel on him. “It happens to me every summer. We should have went to the beach better prepared.”
“It’s normal?” he asked, not believing.
“Totally,” she assured him.
Connor still saw a monster in the mirror.

Date: 2005-06-06 08:43 pm (UTC)And I did apply for a job helping out in a summer school now that I remember :/ gah. It should be the fun type though, not the 'catch up with school subjects type'. I'm just not sure I'll be able to control a bunch of kids. Not that i've heard anything from them yet.
