It's the beginning of the year. I should have resolutions etc. What I have is excuses but that's not necessarily a bad thing because in these excuses I see places to improve. THat is good. I mean here's my stats for 2017 -

99784 / 100000 words. 100% done!

I failed. For the first time since I started keeping track I've failed. Some might say you can't put a number value on writing. It's quality that matters true but in a publishing age when they want you do pump out three novels a year, quantity matters too.

The reality is I only put out ONE new thing this year. ONE. Yes I sold two short stories but Conned was nearly a decade old. I'm proud of The Glow of Lumniferous Aether on Tinsel (still with no amazon reviews, sigh) but one short story is not nearly enough.

Part of it is this lap top and my lack of recorder. See, excuses? But it's true. I am a fan of TV but I lost my dvr so I can't record and watch stuff while I'm making/eating dinner (a time I'm not writing). I'm not on the desk top in the other room because I'm here half writing, half watching tv. this laptop can get online where my previous netbook couldn't (It had been damaged). So now I spend writing time pissing around.

So these are excuses, failings and a place to turn myself around.

So what are the plans for 2018. Editing SPlinters of Silver and Cold Iron YES I know, I've said that for at least 5 years but I put it back to my writing group. I'm serious this time.

2. Finish These Haunted HIlls

3. Work on Kaleo & Aneirin's story
4. work on Arria & Zvon's story
5. make sure Blood Red Roulette finds a home
6. expand Deveral and Addy's short story to a novella (ditto Ryan & Santo's and the Deadwood shifer story)
7 work on other outstanding projects.
8 be a better beta.

Let's see if I get any of those done

Yearly word count -

231 / 100000 words. 0% done!

Sacred Kin -

16329 / 30000 words. 54% done!

Haunted Hills -

47196 / 75000 words. 63% done!
