I spent half the day drooling on myself
Jan. 11th, 2018 10:18 pmSo today I had to have my upper molar drilled into a peg to get a temporary crown made in preparation for the actual crown. I'm running late as is, I get to the office and see a for sale sign but there are cars in the little lot...the building is empty. OMG! I call the number on the door, but get a recorded message. I drive to the lot between the library and the laundromat (since I was going there too) planning to look up the phone# on the computer but they're closed until 10 AM (my cell phone is a tracphone without a data plan so...).
I call mom and have her look up the number to call (as I called them this week so I know the # works). It was the one I had just called. I call it again and they said we're on south street. Okay where (since South Street is mansion row). I'm close to there. I'm at the laundromat calling you. They said 'look left.' They had moved into the hair salon that was next door. Head desk.
I do like my dentist (though occasionally I think his work should be sharper like this temporary. It's rough, it's rubbing my gum and I'm afraid it'll pop off). We talk Doctor Who, SF, patients and med school. He always asks how my writing is going.
But man that thick-ass goo they do impressions with tastes horrible, feels like its suffocating you and took so long to set this time I almost threw up. I had to have two other goo trays with different goos later in the procedure where I sat and drooled and drooled. And since the novacaine put my facial nerve to sleep I had a small bell's palsy most of the day. My students were like why didn't you stay home. Good luck with that. I'm tough.
I had to get a bit pissy with loot crate today. They charged me for this month's crate and I had skipped it. They were all well as a one time courtesy we'll refund you but the deadline to skip is the 5th.
I skipped on the 29th of last month so don't act like this is my fault and you're doing me a favor. This is the THIRD time they've done this. Once more and they're gone and I told me as much. I'm no longer in love with this idea anyhow. I have a huge stack of shit from them I don't want and need to ebay.

Day 11- Share a book/song/movie/tv show/fanwork/etc that changed your life.
Star Trek. That one took no thought. Gene Roddenberry changed my life. I loved original Trek as a child. I dreamed of being on the Starship Enterprise. Like Sheldon Cooper, I hoped Spock would come and take me away. In my darker moments I would think what would Spock do? Silly, maybe but for me effective. I'm not sure I'd be here today without Star Trek. I've found something to love in all of its forms.
I'm not sure Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Fullmetal Alchemist changed my life but both of them have given me many of the online friends I have today and for that I am grateful. I'm grateful for all of the people who entered my life via fandom. Many have moved on and I miss most of them but I was glad they were here for a time.
