Unexpected

There has been good news. My promotion has passed the dean and is on the way up to the provost. But the unexpected part is I found out today I've won the Ernie Wyant award. My university has two professor of the year awards, one voted by the faculty, one voted by the students. Ernie's is the one voted on by the students and it's one I've always wanted to win. It makes me so happy that students loved what I do enough to put me up for the award. I'll get an award dinner (with the faculty member who won the faculty awarded prof of the year and the scholarship award winner too), a plaque and 500$. Maybe 2018 will be my year.

The bad, however, is Kanda is still ill. I'm THINKING it's his food because he vomited/diarrheaed Sunday fine Monday, V& D yesterday. Both episodes I gave him one of the fancy brands of wet food. He's had it before but tis is close out at Kroger's It might be bad or he's suddenly intolerant. Today I didn't give it to him and he seems to be recovering.

I on the other hand am worsening. I've had this pain and feeling like something is 'catching' every time I move just under my right rib cage. Yeah I'll be calling the doc.

And hey I FINISHED those damn edits on both stories. GO me.

Congratulations on the promotion, and even more so on the award! How awesome is that? ***\O/*** How lovely of your students to honour your work and commitment in this way! :oD
Congrats on finishing the edits, too!

So sorry to hear about your own and Kanda's woes. I don't think it sounds like intolerance/allergy, that doesn't usually result in such symptoms. I've cared for a highly allergic cat for years, and these never have been among the symptomps. It could be a bug, of course, but more likely he's having issues with something in the food, or something was spoiled. Particularly the fancy wet foods sometimes contain something fancy that's not necessarily good for your cat, or might cause serious problems at the beginning. (There was or is a brand that contains garlic, and I've also once seen a cook book for cats where garlic was frequently used; the author had just put together recipes her own cat liked, without any knowledge about what a cat can eat and what not. But at least with a pet food brand I'd expect that they'd know about the toxicology of bulbous plants for cats....)
Good to hear Kanda is recovering, but perhaps you should put him on a relief diet for a couple of days to give his system time to recover. Are you familiar with the chicken diet recipe for cats with digestive problems?

Congratulations on your award--that's wonderful! As a teacher, I can totally agree that the award that means more is the one that comes from the students, for sure. That's awesome!

Also, good for you for finishing those blasted edits!

I hope that both Kanda and you are feeling better soon. No rain on this parade! :-)
