I'm melting, I'm melting
May. 5th, 2018 09:46 pmThank the gods above that it cooled down today because it was pouring rain. That means graduation in the gym. I LOATHE that. THey used to let us leave so the family could pack in there which makes sense. But now they can live stream it to other places. Better places. Cooler places. That gym was over 90 and packed to legal capacity. And they stuffed the floor with chairs, one side graduates, the rest faculty. It's stupid. Let the faculty march in and out and THEN have us line up outside the doors an hour later or whatever so the students can walk the gauntlet out past us. This is for THEM and their families, not us. It was so god damn hot in that gym I'm shocked no one fainted. even if I had, I was jammed in so tight my shoulders against my fellow faculty's would have pinned me in place.
Afterward we went to a quick retirement reception for the faculty (again just the same 20 of us who do everything) and oh I was at brunch with the board before it started. THey had Eggs Benedict on the brunch buffet. Weird choice but it worked. It was actually tasty.
After the retirement party we went to Arch and Eddie's (the science dept) and that was nice.
What wasn't nice, going outside this morning and learning the assholes who have been doing all the sexually aggressive talk keyed the cars of the people who took offense to this (of course you can't prove it). On my way home, at my exit a car collided with an 18 wheeler and the hood of the TRUCK was in the median. I'm betting the woman in the car did not survive. It took 2 hours to clean up (It must have happened minutes after we'd gone thru on our way to A&Es)
