My computer is sick. It's been sick for a while with a lot of not responding messages for the browsers and for word, this week I couldn't even get the task manager to work it and today it wouldn't connect to the internet and Windows Defender took me to a page I couldn't get out of.

I had no options but to take it to the Geek Squad. 200 freaking dollars to look at it and clean it. The best case scenario it's a corrupted operating system but it's looking like the hard drive is dying.

I handled it well, calmly. I'm proud of that because this is the crap that usuallymakes me blow my top. My computer isn't old so this is very annoying. But it also means I have to share mom's computer so I need to do work and camp nano first, everything else second, so the travelogue is going to be delayed.

It's awful when hard drives go, but at least you have some notice so you won't lose anything. When I bought this laptop my hard drive blew up 6 months in. My computer guy told me that they put crap hard drives in the computers; he bought me a super duper one to replace it with. (I've had issues with the Geek Squad, so I will never rely on them for tech support again. I was willing to pay for the hard drive to not have to deal with them or lose the use of my laptop for the time it took.) Good luck!

I have zero faith in them too but when you live in the middle of nowhere there isn't much choice. Six months in? That is complete crap

Sympathies! Non-cooperative hardware is the worst! I'm continually fighting against the annoyances of Windows 8 first ,and now Windows 10, with evrery update and upgrade not improving anything, just clogging my hardware even more... and that's with a well-groomed, well-maintained and as-well-as-possible running system! I keep my fingers crossed that you're soon back to smoother digital working.

Well, at least hard drives are fairly cheap these days, if you just want to replace it?
