Writerly Ways
Jul. 9th, 2018 11:28 pmA day late and a dollar short. I had ideas but since I'm sharing a computer and time is of essence, I'll skip it. I did learn that one of the deadlines I thought was in two weeks is now sept so that's great. Setting that one aside to work on the little ghost story.
Camp nano is going well. I'm about halfway to my goal.

Date: 2018-07-10 05:58 pm (UTC)I've actually been to Meat Cove, N.S., so I smiled especially big when I read about that. (We stayed at the Markland Resort in Dingwall, N.S., one of those tiny coastal towns you must have passed on your way through Cape Breton Highlands N.P.)
I also related to your comment about the remoteness. I came down with a stomach thing while we were staying in Dingwall (I ate something that definitely didn't agree with me), and as I lay on the bed in agony, my husband starting to get actually worried (because digestive issues are a pretty common thing with me, and this was extreme even with that as a given), I realized that if I actually needed medical help, I'd have to be flown via helicopter to Sydney. Oy. That's when he and I both came to the conclusion that while we might someday LOVE to own a vacation cottage there (as if we could ever afford it!), we couldn't see living there full time. And that was when my body was eleven years younger--lol!
I loved your pics of the Ft. Louisburg! I have a gazillion somewhere or other. I'm sorry you only got such a short time to explore it. We spent an entire day, which was all we'd scheduled, and we wished we'd been able to stay for longer. (Alas, we had ferry tickets we had to use on a certain day to get back to the States.)

Ugh to being ill. Yeah seriously, that could be scary. I had the same thought. As a diabetic, as much as I like remote I shouldn't live THAT remote.
I hear you on that fortress. I could have stayed a day or two. Or work there, whatever, you know. That really is my plan for retirement. I'd love to be an interpreter at a historic site
