I went to the mall for Labor Day. To be fair I was GOING to go to an art festival in Columbus but it was 90+ out there an 80% humidity so I said bite me to that noise. I could have sat around here and clean but who wanted to do that? So I go to the mall.

For the newcomers to the blog that means a nearly 80 mile jaunt through the Appalachian hills of Ohio and West Virginia to Huntington. I was going to do something in the city but there was nothing I hadn't already done. I was also going to stop at Hillbilly Hot dogs but there were so many people there you'd swear a rock concert was going on, literally three abreast from door to highway. So no way. (ended up with the worst pepperoni roll in the mall food court, blech) I want my parents to do a wedding renewal here (and DO google images of this place. I like to eat in the school bus).

I went to TJ Maxx/HomeGoods and they had out their Halloween stuff. Um...I might have bought a little trailer that reminded me of Nick's from Grimm. I waited in line forever to get it too because all the cashiers refused to come in. I had my ereader, thank god.

Macy's had a few treasures for me too, a nice pair of bermuda shorts and a green top, 90$ on sale for 33$. Woot!

From there I went to Books a Million where the cashier was ranting at the long line about how this was a day to celebrate people like her and was she out enjoying it? No! I'm like you know maybe you want to stop shaming us and do your job. Like it or not, this is retail work. Holidays like this make up a huge chunk of the yearly income. Yeah it sucks you drew the short straw but you're hardly alone and are probably making time and a half holiday pay.

I picked up some manga series I follow (you know the ones I could remember, some I'm like uh, what number am I on again?) mostly because I have a coupon. It's more expensive at the store. I got one that's new because when Shonen Jump/Viz sent me a preview I thought that's fascinating. It's this one Black Torch

Then I went to dinner. I was SO looking forward to Tortilla Flats. They have this molcajete dish full of yummy sauce and cactus paddles that I love. And they turned out to be CLOSED on Mondays (such a disappointing eating venture). I went next door to OUtback for a ridiculously overpriced watermelon 'rita that tasted nothing like watermelon. The steak and shrimp were equally blah. Good, yes but worth the price, eh.

Then I got sucked into Michael's. I swear to god I only went that way to get a pumpkin spice frappe from Joe Muggs in Booksamillion for the drive home. Then I'm in Michael's buying a crap ton of Halloween faeries garden bullshit to go with all the stuff I got last year and didn't use. I need to put this up in my office this year!

I've decided I can't read Angel:The End. It's the end of course but it's not stand alone. Ironically a druid book fell off my shelf and I put it back only to see I DO have Book 1 of Angel after the fall. SO I'll read that. My library has book #2 (only that) and then the gallipolis library has Books 1-2, 4-9 (and 7-9 is the volume I have now). Okay so I won't get to see #3 but this should make sense (because I'm like, are we still in Hell? Why is Gunn saying all this stuff never happened? yeah I need to read this in order like a sane person does. At least the libraries have them (but what I HAVE read of The End is pretty lame, very disappointing since it's Bill Willingham of Fables fame.)

I went to the fair yesterday and can confirm that the temps were hellish.

Wow! You have to drive twice as far as I do to get to a nice mall!

Michaels! I know what you mean about being sucked in, and I'm not even a crafty person.
