It's been a rough couple of days

My blood sugar won't stablize. It's been going from 70 to 200 to 350 back to 70 since about 2 AM Monday morning. I'm not getting much sleep.

Shit is getting tense at work. The two new hires are causing problems, not with me, not yet but we're all pretty unhappy. Heap on that, the whole political bullshit, the depression levels are high.

I'm also getting pretty sad that I can't find all my Buffy stories. Too many computer crashes. I'm looking for one that I really want to find, the sequel to Built on Lies which if FFN is to be believed would be Young Lies (I had it tacked on in snippets to the end of Built on. Oddly enough Built on Lies and a little silly ficlet ARE on FFN but NOT the sequel. I know it was written (because the ficlet comes after it). Maybe I had to take it off FFN because it had sex in it (I don't even know if it DID but that would be one reason it's gone).

I had originally written it for rahirah who was planning a story with Buffy with many different pairings (from various 'verses) and this was Buffy/Connor and in the sequel Spike and Angel both go to Rome where Buffy and her team (including Connor) are because Harry (Doyle's wife) was there with info about the Destroyer.

Sadly I can not find it via the wayback machine. Most of my Buffyverse friends are gone from LJ/DW so I'm not sure if anyone would have it downloaded somewhere. (if you do, let me know!)

Weirdly I still HAVE the old floppy discs here. I thought I had pulled everything off them and maybe I did but the file that says 'disc stuff' doesn't have that much on it (then again it's hard to remember 15 years ago those discs didn't have the storage capacity of the smallest flash drive). It's possible that a) I didn't pull off everything b) it was never saved there and died in a hard drive crash.

I've lost novels this way too. It's never easy. It always makes me sad.

ETA - Sigh. I haven't found the story on LJ (thanks to ELD for the suggestion) but other stories at that time were linked out to forever fandom which is dead. bangs head.

Augh, losing stories sucks. Have you tried asking at https://seeking-spike.livejournal.com? (Despite the name, it's a community for searching for any BtVS fic).

I posted a question on Tumblr on the off chance anyone there had a copy. Probably not; they're all infants; but I figured it couldn't hurt.

I did eventually finish that project. (It's on AO3 here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/17815 ) I had to cut way down on the number of different Buffys I used, though, because there ended up being just too many characters, and it was too confusing. I ended up using a vampire Buffy, a Buffy who was with Angel, and a Buffy who was with Faith as the main ones besides my own. (Oh, yeah, and the Buffy from the Dark Horse S8 comics.)

Cool. I'll have to go read it. Yeah I could see how it could easily spin out of control character wise.

I appreciate your help with this. I put in a question to MAKD who had downloaded a crap ton of these things for her academic papers.

Bummer that you can't find your fic. I haven't uploaded all of my older fic to AO3 yet. I wonder how many of them I might have lost without even realizing it. Good luck in your search.
