Today was less hot
Nov. 3rd, 2018 01:04 amAfter four hours of lab I was too tired to do much. Heck I even gave up on food and drove into town to get something. I did get to stun a few male students who obviously have never skinned anything (It was a dissecting day). Did you SEE what Doc did?
I only got 1115 words today.
Have another Snippet of Xenolith It's a year later after Zvon's lost his hand and we get to meet the other main character, Arria.
Hearing footsteps next to him, Zvon glanced over. A young girl close to his age walked along the wooden sidewalk, clutching a bag with the logo from the bookstore down the street embroidered on it. Her umbrella changed colors with every rain drop. He marveled at the enchantment. She must be wealthy, or at the very least a mage in training. A tiny white bat like creature order her shoulder, a magic eater. They only attached themselves to people with loads of magic, nibbling at that without harming their hosts. He had no magic, even though most had a little. He’d never host one of the adorable creatures. His aloneness remained unbroken.
She wore a green velvet ribbon holding back her long which that waved down her back in a rich sweet brown river, like the chocolates Zvon had only ever seen in a shop window. He’d never been able to afford any. He’d never eat a chocolate with the few thin coins he’d begged today. The pretty girl’s eyes met his. All he could do was meet her easy smile. Children, even well-heeled ones, never gave him anything. She said hello as she passed him by and turned into the herbal shop one door down. She folded up her fabulous umbrella as she went inside, distracting him just enough that he didn’t see his father had arrived at his side.
