Back in Ohio
Nov. 25th, 2018 08:54 pmMade it home to find the old man who likes me (but also likes drama and is always stirring everyone up) is moving from the building. Honestly I won't miss the drama.
It was a good drive in many ways. I had thoughts about the novel to help it mesh (when I wasn't being overwhelmed with fannish ideas so OMG STFU please fandom)
1. Arria and Siaq are more magical than the others and maybe one of them (I'm looking at Siaq who has even less to do so far) can see that magic was left on the victim
2. Arria and Siaq help Caeles pack so they can at least talk openly about why they're going and the magic they're going to stop. that's part of my problem. These two aren't here to stop the crime. They're not even sure yet they're connected. They're here because a seer saw a great danger and that Zvon was in the middle of it. They're assuming that it might relate to the crime.
3. I had Zvon discover what his boss/partner is hiding but other than to have it as a way for Marin to relate to our killer later but I also wanted Marin to learn Zvon has been snooping. They can be called in to a murder similar to one in Marin's past and Zvon questions his ability to handle it.
4. That means I have to kill a kid. Oops. Sorry story
She scooted into the cafe just before the town center bell rang the twelfth hour. Zvon was already at a table with a man she didn't know. He might have been a few years old than they were, thinner than she usually liked her men and pale. HIs blue eyes, however, were more beautiful than a clear summer sky. She gave him a curious look as she sat down, knowing this had to be someone from the police department because Zvon wouldn't exactly bring a suitor - as if he’d consider cheating on Caeles - to meet her.
"Hello, Zvon," she said stopping at the table.
The stranger gazed up at her as curious as she was, then he stood and pulled out a chair for her. "You must be Zvon's sister, Arria."
"I am. You have me at a disadvantage. I didn't know we were having anyone else at lunch."
"I didn't know either. Everything happened so fast today. Arria, this is Detective Marin Wild Field. He's my new boss. They've switched me into the homicide division." Zvon's smile could have hopped off his face and be continued on the next two people it was so big.
She hugged him before sitting down. "That's fantastic. It's the perfect birthday present. Makes mine look sad in comparison." Arria plopped the box of chocolates on the table.
"Chocolates are always good." He pulled the box to him with his enchanted iron hand. It was no replacement for the real thing of course, Arria knew, but the fingers opened and closed like a hinge to make things a bit easier on him. "Thank you."
36829 / 50000 words. 74% done!
