One week down
Jan. 11th, 2019 10:32 pmBut who's counting? Today went well and I came home and edited about twenty pages of the novella.
I did, however, knock myself off my own pins when I looked at my other two novellas which ....aren't. I could have sworn they were 25-30K. They are not. Sigh. I don't honestly see myself expanding these into novellas. They feel 'done.' So now I have to be cognizant of anthologies that they would fit.
I'm skipping the anime con in Columbus this weekend.I wanted to go but a) I have work stuff to finish b) I have to get the novella sent in this weekend and c) it might be snowgeddon (doubting it but why chance it. Honestly who the hell puts a con in Jan in the midwest?) Did I mention that last night? Ah well.

Day 11 In your own space, talk about your creative process(es) — anything from the initial inspiration to how you feel after something’s done. Do you struggle with motivation or is it a smooth process? Do you have any tricks up your sleeve to pull out when a fanwork isn’t cooperating? What is your level of planning to pantsing/winging it? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Ahahhahahaha, lord, I'm not organized to have a process. If I was would I have written two fanfic yesterday that were utterly off the wall. One ended up in the Getty Museum (thanks for making me scour the webpage to describe it, muse) and the other revolving around freaking zucchini!
Mostly I get ideas. If I'm smart, I write them down (and then usually lose the file). I try to make up character sheets for my original characters so I can remember all the details. If I'm stuck, I'll bug friends to talk it through with me. In fact if there IS something about me creating that could be called a process, it's the whiny soundboarding I do with my friends. I find music inspiring so I often write to it.
I also often hand write first and use typing it in as a first edit. Also I prefer to edit on paper. I see way more if I print something out than if I try to do it online.
I don't outline other than to take vague notes. I'm a pantser. Yeah sometimes it creates more work but outlines seem to kill my creativity. Don't know why but it has always been true.
