This is fun. enemytosleep and sylvanwitch already have two fun challenges up. Here's mine. I was talking to enemytosleep and bay115 about how much fun we had doing a reverse big bang where we had art and wrote from that. A couple of my other favorite challenges sites picfor1000 (which will sadly not run this year due to RL constraints) and spook_me also give you a picture and you write from that.

So under the cut are a bunch of pictures you can write a drabble, snippet, whatever strikes your fancy (or if you want to use them for art, by all means go nuts). If you create something from them, link me up so I can see it. Also these pictures are all mine so I give permission for you to share them as you wish, copyright free! And you don't have to use the actual location. I just tagged them with it in case you were like me and curious.

Caleb Davies and Agni Pradesh are worried about their teammate and lover, Temple Chevalier. Not only has he lost his long-time partner, Fu Li, but he nearly died fighting a demon himself. 1932 shapes up to be a terrible year for the Soldiers as they welcome the New Year fighting demons and then end up investigating a case that pairs them up with the Knights Templar. This would normally be a good thing, but it forces Temple to face his painful past. Worse yet, the case leads right to Astaroth, a Prince of Hell, who might prove to be an unbeatable foe.

Similarly, I had been considering doing intoabar so that challenge made me chuckle, and also add it to the list of challenges I thought I could accomplish. But your comment here reminded me to actually go to the comm and subscribe/track it so I knew when it was happening. *g*

I love this cover. I just wish this novel had done better. I had more ideas for them but never worked on them due to the performance of this novel. I should have known historical urban fantasy would be such a hard sell.

Yeah the masses are easily convinced these genres "aren't for them" which is bullshit when you see how things like Game of Thrones and other traditionally "nerdy" things have become massive hits. My teammates teased me for years about D&D, and now we ply every month and they fucking love it.

Exactly. Hell I'm writing romances of all things, one of my least favorite genres but I still can't quite entirely swing contemp fic. All those reading challenges I do are in part to get people to stretch.

Even on a fanfic level I can feel those feels. My most liked/favorited fics are the fluffy cute ones. They were also my most difficult to write.

Oh see I love writing humor. It's so interesting how we all have our strengths (and how NONE of my friends have strengths in writing fluff haha).

How fun. I can do humorous lines but an entire humor story, nope.

Yeah I can occasionally do fluff but it's not a strength.
