TV Thoughts
Jul. 6th, 2005 02:02 pmBeen a long time since I've actually got to see TV beyond NBC. I've now seen two episodes of House. The first one had me rolling my eyes at the thought of a hospital administrator willingly and knowingly allowing House to detox AND work at the same time (can you say lawsuit?) but I was impressed with the accuracy of it. The second episode impressed me more. I think I like it though it brings back flashbacks of working for assholes like House when I was a medical resident. Still, he's rather funny from a distance and like I said, nice accuracy. That's why I never usually watch a lot of medical (or forensic) shows, too inaccurate for works (CSI springs painfully to mind, not to mention dressing all their professional women like hookers, yeah I'm looking at you too Crossing Jordan).
Saw the new thing, Empire, not sure if I like it. Octavius Caesar is rather dumb or young or is that the same thing? He looks like Tom Welling.
Saw the promo for Alyson Hannigan's new thing and couldn't be more disinterested. However, I KNOW what David B. is doing and it looks like they're going to ruin it. It's based on Temperance Brennan, a lady doctor, forensic anthropologist, from Kathy Reichs mystery novels. Dr Reichs is a forensic antrhopologist and brings a lot of authority to her work however, I've stopped buying the novels because a) she overuses the hook of 'if only I knew then what I know now. I mean it's in every chapter of the last one I read and b) occasionally she has Temperance doing something moronic to put her in peril and needing rescue. Seriously when she was working and someone put human eyes on the dashboard of HER car and she was friends with the police already would she NOT tell them like her character didn't. It's supposed to be set in Montreal (and partially in North Carolina). However, the clips I saw of DB and the star of the show (who actually isn't DB just so you know. He's more a co-star) looks like they've made too many changes to the character from the get go. But, I'll watch it.
Night Stalker. Need I say more? I loved Kolchak as a kid. I can't wait to see it again. I do see (as Flippy said) a heavy supernatural emphasis in this year's line up.
Angie Harmon, one of my favorite assistant D.A.'s from Law and Order is on a new show called Inconceivable, about working in a fertility clinic. It's kinda inconceivable to me how they managed to pitch a show about watching infertile women trying to get pregnant.
See, it's better if I'm kept away from the tv probably.

Date: 2005-07-06 07:37 pm (UTC)I'll give Bones a shot, but to be honest, I'm not that much of a Boreanaz fan that I'll sit though a second rate show just to watch him.
I'm really not excited about any of the shows the Bverse actors are going to be in.

Date: 2005-07-07 01:52 am (UTC)Night Stalker? squee!! One of my all-time fave series. Like you, I can't wait to see the updated and remodeled Night Stalker. I was kinda hoping that old Sci-Fic channel series (can't remember the name;was set in an Enquirer kind of paper) would be more Night Stalker-y, but no go.
Youall moved in, now?

Actually no. I'm at my parent's place. I'll move to my new place in AUgust. It's only about 3 1/2-4 hours from here so staying here, paying no rent and not having to fly to go find a place was worth putting up with living with the rents for a month
