I picked up my book donations for the library and moved my hand past my clip hangers and learned one of them was broken when it slit the back of my hand and thumb for about three inches worth of bleeding flesh.

I get to the laundromat and the washers I like (which were old and dying) were gone (to be replaced) and the front loader didn't wash my clothes. Only the ones on the outside were wet and they were dirtier than when the went in. The middle was dry. OMFG!

I nearly took off the tip of my finger slicing fruit.

I shouldn't be trusted to be an adult.

Speaking of adulting I did nothing to be one today. Sigh.

I was wondering about AO3 though. I have three Buffy stories I put up a few years ago (and forgot about) and for some reason they claim they went up in 2003-2004. Um...that IS when they were written but I wasn't even on A03 until 2010 and I'm not even sure AO3 existed in 2003. Not sure what that's about.

But I was also thinking about my longer fiction. I'm not sure I WILL put it in DW/Lj because it would require so many posts to do it. There are so many storage options these days, it seems unlikely every last one of them would be go bad at once. I don't mind putting the small ones here but does anyone really want 8 posts just to put up a bigger story? I think not.

Here's hoping the pinch hitter does something for me since whoever had my chocolate box request abandoned it. Ah well (this always happens to me in exchanges)

ANd here's a slightly different music meme. I used Aurelio Voltaire this time. I snagged this from [personal profile] tjs_whatnot

1. Are you male or female? The Mechanical Girl
2. Describe yourself. When You're Evil
3. What do people feel when they're around you? Vampire Club
4. How would you describe your previous relationship? See You In Hell
5. Describe your current relationship. The Necropolis of Former Lovers
6. Where would you want to be now? Graveyard Picnic
7. How do you feel about love? The Folly of Love
8. What's your life like? Hell In A Handbasket
9. What would you ask for if you had only one wish? The Uss Make Shit Up
10. Say something wise. Innocent

AND before I could even finish this post my sugar crashed out and I had to get out my sugar pills in spite of eating on my chocolate haul all day

Did you tell AO3 when you uploaded those stories that the publication date to display was years earlier?

It is a thing you can do, yes, and your having done it and then forgotten is definitely an explanation fits the evidence :)

OUCH to the finger.

AO3 I honestly don't know how or why, but I noticed the same shit. I got the account in 2011, but it lists all the original posting dates for all of my old fic. I cannot remember how I uploaded there. I feel like I imported from LJ and FF.net, which would perhaps have given AO3 the information on when it was posted. I Googled it jsut now and didn't find anything useful, though I did find an enlightening rant regarding why readers might care about dating works accurately.

(sorry, deleted comment was by me, logged in with the wrong account)

About finding fic with older dates on the AO3: sometimes, older fic archives are imported into the AO3, I think they even have a tool or something for it for moderators and such. The idea behind is preserving fanworks which otherwise would be lost because a smaller archive is ending its services or being deleted. I don't know about the details and how it works, but to my knowledge, as much of the original meta info as possible is kept with the importing process, and most likely also the dates. I found that often such fic has tags showing they've been from this or that archive - but only when the importing people set these tags, of course; sometimes also the absence of tags or certain tag-sets can be an indicator of a fic having been imported.

Yeah the dating stuff was a fun read. I have my stuff accurately dated simply for my own neurosis, though in some of the comments I saw arguments why some people might not want to or bother to date them. Ultimately I could really give a shit about fanfic, but I did have fun reading the differing opinions. :D

8 posts in one day, probably not, but 8 posts over 8 weeks or something, sure, I think.

I agree, AO3 in particular seems like a safe bet.

I joined AO3 in ... 2009 or so? Whenever Yuletide moved over. And I definitely checked the box to back-date when I did that. So many fic posts; I was really into the double-drabble format in the early days! I didn't want people to think it was all new stories they maybe hadn't read yet, and there were a lot of them.

It's nice to be able to look back now and know what I wrote when without cross-referencing to other sites! Most of my tagging ends up being for myself these days, too. If it helps other people, great; but if I want to put my finger on my last timetravel fixit or something to see how I did a particular trope before, voila!
