Keeping it short because that broken cartilage in my hip is catching and killing me. So I wanted to talk about convention bling and con prep.

Since I don't have a vending table at the con (mostly because a) cost b) literally no one to help me and I simply can't do a three day con on my own) I won't have much in the way of bling. But I'm curious what sort of bling would you like from an author. There's a lot of debate about it because let's face it, most of us toss that crap once we get home (or when we're packing our suitcases). Now obviously cost is a factor and so is size, because as fun as travel mugs might be, there's only so much room in a suitcase. (not to mention ME getting it all to the con).

I know for this con I'm just doing bookmarks and maybe some postcards. I can put QRS codes on them so they can find my books. When I last did this I put only Dreamspinner on it (as I get paid more if you buy from my publisher) but as I was telling ELD the other day more people are likely to prefer Amazon. Then it occured to me, hey dummy you're paying for a website which you're mostly just using as a damn blog. PUT YOUR BOOKS UP. That way I can do a QRS to that and have three or four places to buy the book and they can pick their poison (look at me using my brain) So that's con prep one (poke me to be sure I'm doing it)

I also have to redo chapter one of Splinters of Silver and Cold Iron because I will be there with reps from Tor.com. Hey the chances they'll want to hear about my YA are slim but not non-existent. But chapter one has been rewritten twice and it still doesn't work. I think I know how to fix it (it would help if I could remember what [profile] katimac9 said but I don't.) Now to find a reader for it.

[personal profile] spikesgirl58 nominated me to post covers of seven books I love - one cover a day for a week. There is to be no explanations or reviews, just covers. Each time I post I will ask someone else to take up the challenge. Obviously it goes without saying that if I tag you and you don't want to it, you don't have to do it. Please do not feel obligated to join in.

Book Six. (Okay I'm commenting in this because a) it's by the author trying to get me on the author panel and b) while she has hundreds of reviews on Goodreads she barely has any on Amazon. To all the readers on my list, seriously if you have an author you love support them by reviewing on Amazon because it directly impacts their visibility and their sales)

If I haven't tagged you and you want to play, say I tagged you and have a ball.

And let's have some links I found around the web.

Publishing Contract Red Flag: When a Publisher Claims Copyright on Edits To be honest I do know that a few of mine have that clause in them because I remember thinking just how do they plan to enforce it. I can't see how they are going to go line by line to see if I had changed it back to pre-edited condition
