I tend to do more canon pairings than anything else and most of my fandoms have het relationships. And honestly I prefer NON-shippy fiction which is definitely supported by these numbers.

I'm a migratory bird. And since I started publishing professionally I've been doing fanfic only around the holidays for the most part. I still noodle around in them though.

Okay I just listed all of them and I think this is totally broken. One I have no idea what the season/series tags are but I'm betting they're NOT mine (maybe from ANgel Book of Days which I did NOT post myself, the person running it posted these years ago). I didn't use the kidnapping one either (Evil Little Dog did on a story we apparently wrote together but I have no recollection of). I KNOW I've used Alternate reality/alternate universe WAY more than this, ditto crossover.


What would happen if you combined all 4 of these into a fic?

Going by what I've actually used myself It would probably be a fanged four meets sherlock holmes and kidnap Irene Adler or something


How many WIPs do you have currently running on AO3? Any you don't plan on finishing?

I have none on AO3. By the time AO3 was up and running I had wised up to putting up WIPs after leaving SO MANY on FFN in the Buffyverse. I'm now trying to pick one to do for wipbigbang so yeah maybe I'll finish them one day.

Also I got lucky when I left the writers group meeting. I made it home before this storm hit but the wind was so bad that the pizza box was nearly torn out of my hands when I walked into the apartment.

Fairly adventurous. I’ve tackled a few dark and difficult things, as well as a full gamut of characters, pairings, and themes. As it’s essentially anonymous fanfic, I haven’t ever worried too much about what other people might think if I tried something that falls outside what’s “commonly acceptable” for that fandom.

Looks reasonable. With pairings, you can only work with what the fandom has to offer so I'm not too surprised that there isn't much femslash. There isn't in mine either (as much as I love Willow/Tara in Buffyverse I struggle writing it)

Scribblemoose also made a beautiful point on wanting to wtite male romance and female action as mainstream media doesn’t cover those hardly at all. Fanfic generally is created to fill gaps in the canon, so it’s not so aurprising to ms that nake fomance is more of a focus (het or slash) than female romance.

I'm with you on the tags and warnings: when AO3 first opened up there was hardly a tag system in place and we all sort of did what made sense to us at the time. When I came back this December, I went through my AO3 and updated a LOT of my shit because there is definitely more of a tag system now with actual teams of tag wranglers. So my stuff was probably 24% accurate when I first logged back in and is probably 87% accurate now.

I also have not bothered putting up a lot of my earliest (crappiest) shit as well as a bunch of stuff I wrote for hentai contest groups back in the day that was fun to do, but is weird and not something I need judgmental 15 year olds commenting on haha. So the numbers are only so accurate i guess.

Yeah that's true. I had forgotten about that it not being so great in the beginning. I DO need to get better about tagging. I am NOT a tag person.

I'm slowly putting my stuff here but yeah some things won't get added. I might one day take all the open_on_sunday Buffy drabbles and put them into one file (or more likely into character files) and post them. Hell I don't even have the stuff from teh weekly FMA comm challenge up

I remember that most tags didn’t even exist at first and you had to submit them for approval. So even if you’d tried to tag not all of them went live on the story (the process is vastly different now).
