Other somewhere else's
Jul. 11th, 2005 12:11 pmWorked up a few more somewhere else drabbles based on my pre-existing stories (these ones are on another archive) and I forgot to mention that outside of Las Vegas and England, (and of course Quor-Toth) these are all set in places I've lived in or very near by.
Connor & Angel – Deadwood, South Dakota – Nil se Ina La
“Your mother and I thought about coming here back in the day. She adored Buffalo Bill Cody’s Wild West show. She thought we could get into so much trouble in the American West,” Angel said as he strolled the streets of Deadwood.
Connor rolled his eyes, staring at his father’s sunburned face. Apocalypse averted, Angel and Spike celebrated their newfound almost-humanity, with demon abilities that mirrored Connor’s, by playing in the sun. They forgot all about sunburns until they went firetruck red and blistered. “Why does any story that starts’ me and your mother ‘scare me from the get go?”
Giles – London, England – Box of Crayons
Giles had been determined to show no fear. Xander had already failed at this task. Faith outrightly refused to do it and Buffy was reluctantly off doing her duty. It fell to him. How hard could it be? He had defeated countless demons. He handled magicks that made lesser men quail. This should be no problem.
He looked at Dawn’s daughter lying on the changing pad, gaily kicking her feet. He could do this. Giles managed to get the soiled diaper off of Sorcha’s bottom before he gagged. Steady, old man, you won’t be defeated by a dirty nappie. He was wrong.
Spike/Dru – Coney Island, New York, Wishes on her Eyes
“It’s like flying,” Drusilla cried, clutching her cloche hat with one hand and Spike’s leg with the other.
Spike pulled her close, loving the simple joy in her face. His dark princess was always so full of delicious pain but this new emotion made her even more beautiful. As the Wonder Wheel stopped, with their car at the top of the Ferris wheel, Spike felt like the king of Coney Island. He and Dru would go hunting this rich playground but first….a few more amusement rides. What a wonderful new age they lived in. He kissed her cheek. “Thank you.”
Holtz – Quor- Toth (not from any of my pre-existing stories) – Choices
“Shh, Steven, you must be quiet,” Holtz whispered to the baby. He had forgotten how much noise infants made. He pinched the demons’ child’s nose shut. He would have to stop crying if he wanted to breathe.
Steven’s cries always alerted demons to their presence. Holtz knew if he wanted to survive this hell, he would be better off letting the baby die but when he looked into those blue eyes, he felt something he hadn’t expected. Love. He would fight to save his new son and God willing, they’d live to spit into Angelus’ dust. Holtz cradled Steven close.

COM LEAPS INTO THE AIR, whirls around, throws out each foot in succession, and sends them both FLYING TO THE FLOOR.
The parentals look up from the carpet, bleary-eyed.
Perhaps we should just leave her be.
MOM
Good plan.

Date: 2005-07-11 07:35 pm (UTC)Loved Connor's reaction. And I can so see Faith refusing to touch a nappy (as we call them in England).

Date: 2005-07-16 02:42 am (UTC)Hey, this will make you snort - I pulled up the Fullmetal Alchemist website and Dad was staring at it while I was waiting for it to load (one of those flash intros; no way to skip) and thought it looked pretty cool. I handed him the manga and now he's interested. AIGH.
