That was unexpected
May. 18th, 2019 11:17 pmSo between outrightly struggling (my sugar was over 300 this morning for no known reason) and depression being almost insurmountable, I've been procrastinating cleaning this house. No, that's NOT the unexpected thing.
The thing that shocked me was what I found on (and NOT on) my hard drive. As you know I've been slowly but surely migrating my Buffyverse stories to AO3 (and trying to finish the more promising WIPs from 15 + years ago). It occurred to me that I had won awards for these so why wasn't I tagging them onto the stories? I earned them. Someone did a nice job of creating art for them so I SHOULD share them (though honest god knows who did the art at this point since almost all of those places are long gone).
So I had a file named 'awards' Three of them in fact but after putting those into folders each to a story so I could organize and eventually upload them (see, procrastination) I discovered that I had not so many. Maybe I wasn't as good as I remembered being. Hmm no, I knew damn well Hyperion's Son had won awards and I had zero of them.
Well let me log into photobucket which I hadn't done since they went all douchebaggy over being paid for everything. Long story short, I got in and started oldest first because I know that's where I hosted them. It took all day (in between changing winter clothes out for summer, work a little, sit a little) but I searched through nearly 4000 pictures from almost 20 years (and they were not in as much of an order as I would have liked).
At the end of the day I found a lot of icons I had forgotten (I had a second photobucket for them but it won't let me go to the oldest and every time I go back more than 3 years it freaks out and resets to the newest so I'll piss with that another day).
Long story short, a) BtVS fandom had a crap ton of talented icon makers b) I won a lot of awards.
82 stories all told won awards. I had several 'best author' awards. Oddly enough I never felt like a BNF (and as far as I know, I never was) but there I have it. I did a lot of writing. I did a lot of winning. Hell I have awards for stories I no longer even have (notable Finding Faith, Yielding, Young Lies and Just a Devil With Love to Spare. I've been looking for them with NO luck. Sigh.
So that is kinda cool.
ETA - Thanks to
spiffikins for not only finding Just a Devil for me on Blood Roses forum but I'm finding OTHER missing stories
there. HUGS TIGHT
