So Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. Editing my Christmas story took up my entire day. More on that later.

Let me give another shout out for wipbigbang and the third call for art here. there is a lot of Sherlock Holmes stories looking for art, some Harry Potter, Les Miserables, and so much more.

As for me, I got an early birthday present. Someone picked up my Buffyverse story for art. I'm excited.

So my Christmas story is f/f/m, it's set in a one-time gangster hotel in the far north of Wisconsin. The threesome are monster/ghost hunters in a world that knows about magic. I'm thinking of calling it either Ghosts, Gangsters and Garland or Ghosts, Gangsters and Gingerbread ( possessed garland AND possessed Gingerbread are in the story thanks to your suggestions) which title do you like best. I hope to send it out tomorrow or Tuesday

And since I'm to tired mentally for much else, let me reminisce about the old paper zine Elfquest fandom days where every story got art, even if it was one piece. Of course there were still big name fan artists and authors. Some people really got obsessed by that. Me, I tried to be sure I always thanked my artist regardless of skill level because they tried and everyone starts somewhere. Of course back in those days your name and address went into the zine. Can you imagine?

It was a different time for sure. I'm still friends with several people from then evil_little_dog rahirah, wildrider & lordgloria (and probably the less I say about how long it's been is probably better, but I am here to say you can make lasting friendships in fandom and we can help each other hone our craft)

I think "Ghosts, Gangsters and Gingerbread" has a much nicer rhythm than "Ghosts, Gangsters and Garland".

thank you. I like them both but someone pointed out that it builds in syllables if I use the gingerbread one

I like Ghost, Gangsters and Garland. Gingerbread uses the soft G sound and throws off the alliteration for me.

So, you finally did it, talked me into signing up to be an artist for WIPBIGBANG. I hesitated before because I don't know these people and I was afraid that I might not click with the author and come up with something they hate (which may still be the case). I requested to do the art for all three of my choices.

I know what you mean about long-term fandom friends. I'm still friends with two people. We are on Facebook together, I got to see them have their first kids, get married etc.

I liked the writing better character goals article! I'm going to work on that today. I do have a request for your next writerly ways... maybe an article about improving prose writing?
