cornerofmadnessGood News - Mom's stitches are out and the foot looks really good. She has to go get a special shoe with a toe spacer made but the worst of this is behind us at this point.
Bad news - woke up with a migraine
Good news - Edits #2 for Santa's Little Library were minimal and the editor loved it.
Idiotic News - So at work we had to vote on our new contract. The lawyer said we HAVE to have one or all of us could easily be dismissed and we should take whatever it was. I nearly forgot to vote getting it in just before deadline but long after Friday's in-person vote. But the guy who headed up our faculty union penned a very disappointed letter to us all because in spite of that, only 2 people (3 including me) voted yes. Are you kidding me? Do they think the lawyer was fucking kidding? Yes we have to work one extra class a semester for no more pay but that is better than the university completely folding. You can tell that SO MANY of these people (unlike me) have never worked outside academia and seem to be clueless how the world works in spite of their age and education.
ETA this is a ONE year contract so it saves us and let's us work on something else. shakes head.

Date: 2019-07-16 01:56 am (UTC)I honestly don't know what to say about the other teachers because you guys are seriously in jeopardy here. Like, maybe it's a shit contract, but take it for next year and get paid something while you figure out an alternative.
